On November 6-7th, the American Foundation for Children with AIDS will host the Climb Up in Charlotte event in Charlotte, North Carolina, as part of the foundation's annual Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up charity series. This fundraising program challenges participants to engage in activities such as hiking, climbing, running, and cycling to raise awareness and donations for children affected with HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa. The event allows participants to help a worthy cause, while also promoting a healthy, active lifestyle.
Besides Climb Up in Charlotte, Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up consists of three other events: Climb Up the 50, Climb Up Kilimanjaro, and Climb Up the World. Families, individuals, teams, children, adults, women and men are all invited to participate in one or more of these events. All of the proceeds raised go towards AFCA's programs.
Climb Up in Charlotte will include a variety of exciting events. November 6th will be the debut of "A Taste in NoDa", an evening of music, food and wine tasting, and an auction at the Neighborhood Theatre in the North Davidson St. Arts District of Charlotte. Restaurants from NoDa and surrounding areas will provide sample tastings, along with wine samples from local wineries. There will be live music to accompany the auction, which will feature prizes such as a three night VIP Napa Valley tour, Ritz Carlton Caribbean or Mexico trip with airfare, a Hot Air Balloon Ride, crafts, a ride with a NASCAR driver, spa/hair cut certificates, a signed baseball by Barack Obama and much, much more. Doors open with food service at 6pm, music from 7pm-12pm, and the auction going from 7-10pm. Tickets will be available at the door and all proceeds go towards saving children in Africa.
The main host of the event is the Inner Peaks Climbing Center for a day of fun climbing and exercise activities. Classes offered include an introductory climbing class, climbing training, Warrior's Way Espresso Mental Fitness class, yoga, and a self-rescue classes. They will also offer other services such as massages, chiropractic assessments, an open climbing competition, food, and raffles. Everyone is invited to attend and have a great time while helping children.
