It s That Time of Year - Fall in Love with a Child

The holiday season is filled with messages of peace, hope, and love. You see it on greeting cards, stores, TV specials, and almost everywhere else. We celebrate this peace and love with our families, friends, church members, etc. During this holiday season, take time to share that peace, hope, and love to a child who is being helped by the American Foundation for Children with AIDS (AFCA).

Meet Matano, a 16 year old boy who lives in Mombasa, Kenya. Matano lives in an orphanage after losing both of his parents to AIDS. When he turned 13 years old, Matano found out he had inherited the HIV virus from him mother and now was facing a life threatening illness. His caretakers at the orphanage took him to the Mombasa Community Free Clinic, where he received cost free medication provided by AFCA. Now at 16, Matano is healthy and doing really well in school. He thinks about his future and has plans to be a doctor. Matano says that one day he hopes to help people just like the doctors who saved his life. What is so neat about this is that Matano would never had hoped to grow up just a few years ago, much less dream about a future as a doctor!

You can help children just like Matano. Whether you give $1 or $100, every little bit helps the children in AFCA's programs. Life saving free medication, nutritional support, medical supplies, and humanitarian relief as all part of what the children receive.
