That’s your truth
Posted March 16, 2014
by Holy Host (guest blogger)
It’s becoming more common to follow postmodern thinking that says it’s all relative, each person defines his or her own truth and there’s no such thing as absolute truth.
This kind of thinking, called relativism misses the point. This idea that “perception is reality,” can’t work. It says that all is equal and fair – no one wins or loses.
In the interest of saving someone’s feelings…truth takes the back seat. This not only affects faith and life decisions but the smaller things as well. The biggest crime in all this relativism is that it strips truth from the equation.
Pushing through tough times, honing a skill, being accountable and self reliant, all these wonderful benefits of right and wrong, success and failure get cast aside if there’s not a measuring rod of truth showing you where you’re doing well, and where you can improve.
Truth by its very nature is exclusionary. To make a factual statement, to speak truth is to exclude all other false options. FULL POST

American Family Association Urges Christians to Contact the Air Force Academy to Stand Up for Cadet’s Religious Liberties
TUPELO, Miss.—The Air Force Academy has removed a Bible verse written on a cadet’s whiteboard after it determined the posting had offended other cadets, according to a story by FoxNews’ Todd Starnes.
Now, American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) is urging Christians around the country to contact the Air Force Academy to present a unified stand for the cadet’s religious liberties. The cadet had written Galatians 2:20 on the whiteboard outside his room: “I have been crucified with Christ therefore I no longer live, but Christ lives in me...”
“This is another example in a growing list of religious discrimination offenses by the Air Force Academy,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon. “When constitutionally-protected speech based on Christian faith is expressed at the Air Force Academy, why is it immediately censored? The Air Force has once again caved to the whims of anti-Christian bigotry from the likes of Mikey Weinstein.” FULL POST

I had the opportunity to see a pre-screening of the Son of God movie at Saddleback Church recently and wanted to share something with you. Pastor Rick Warren hosted the film's producers, Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, at the special screening for local pastors. And despite what some of you may look at as just another well-oiled promotional campaign, I urge you to get past any skepticism about the movie's theatrical release on Feb 28 and get engaged in any way you can.
I recommend beginning with prayer. Do not simply say, "Oh, too much hype." Get past that.
In my opinion, this movie will impact the world for Jesus more so than any movie previously. It's like "The Passion of the Christ" without the "art" (beautiful as it was) and much more representative of The Bible, especially the spoken words, verse by verse. FULL POST

Talk about a Twitter (and Facebook) firestorm! One has been raging since last Sunday. NBC Football Night in America commentator and former NFL coach Tony Dungy said he wasn't as concerned about Seattle Seahawks Richard Sherman's controversial on-field interview after the playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers as he was about the defensive back's actions immediately following his victory-saving play. Dungy, a leader in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, released a video (below) of his thoughts about the controversy on his blog on the All Pro Dad website Wednesday.
"I wasn't focused in as much on his interview as I was on what happened directly after the interception on the last play," Dungy said. "He went and really approached Michael Crabtree, appeared to be mocking him a little bit, Crabtree pushed him a little bit, and they get into a little confrontation. FULL POST

World Help is traveling with five passionate storytellers on an adventure into Africa . . . and you’re invited to join the journey, say the bloggers at the humanitarian group. The organization invites you to follow the team as they use their words to paint a new picture of Africa—one rising from the ashes of poverty.
Project: Rescue Homes
We are raising funds to build and outfit 3 rescue homes. Too many children wander the dangerous slums of Uganda hungry, sick, and utterly alone. Operation Baby Rescue is intervening and saving countless lives.
On this trip, the World Help Bloggers will be launching the campaign for a much-needed expansion of the Baby Rescue Center in Uganda—Rescue Homes. These facilities are designed to provide holistic care for children who would otherwise be left for dead. Starting with the completion of a partially built home and then constructing even more, these homes will bring life to thousands of children for generations to come. We hope you’ll Join the Rescue. Two-thousand thirteen was a year of heartbreaking personal tragedies suffered by Christian leaders, and The Christian Post and the Church & Ministry gave due coverage. In early April, Southern California-based megachurch pastor Rick Warren, and his wife, Kay, lost their son, Matthew, to suicide. Warren grieved quite publicly by journaling through social media, and he and his wife helped bring the issue of mental health to the forefront of the Christian community.

Richard Land: ‘Gay Thought and Speech Police Attack Reality Show Star for Paraphrasing Bible Verse!’
Charlotte, N.C.— In the wake of this morning’s news that Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the reality television show on the A&E cable network, was dismissed from “Duck Dynasty” by the network for his comments about homosexuality and sexual sin in America, a backlash has begun that A&E never expected.
A&E put Robertson on an indefinite hiatus from the show after the family head talked about his beliefs on sexual sin in the January issue of the men’s magazine “GQ.” Robertson compared homosexuality to adultery and other sin.
“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty,” the network said in a statement today. “His personal views in no way reflect those of A&E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.” FULL POST
