There are times when reporting is an absolute joy... and blessing.

The last couple of weeks have been just such a time. Not only did I have the pleasure of interviewing the founding twin sisters of New Image Emergency Shelter in Los Angeles over the phone, I was able to witness On a Wing and a Prayer Ministry provide a worship service to the center – and meet the twins in person. The ministry's motto, "bringing church to where there is no church," certainly held true during my visit last Saturday.

The issue of homelessness again came into play when I reported on the story of Dawn Martinez and her Bible study at a Camden, N.J., McDonald's. After two years of holding a small group Bible study for the homeless and drug addicted of the area she was told she could no longer meet at the fast-food restaurant. Find her story here and here.

Then, I stumbled over the story of 17-year-old Clarissa Shields from Flint, Mich., who is rocking the boxing world as she heads to the Olympics in London. Photographer Sue Jaye Johnson is documenting her story for the film T-Rex, Shields' nickname. The focused and wise-beyond-her-years young lady is an absolute pleasure to watch and hear.

I love my job.
