Do you like Pinterest?

Do you use Pinterest? I'd like to know.

When I first started using it I was reminded of the magazine Better Home & Gardens ... lots of food, garden, and home design photos.

There are some knock-your-socks-off photos and images on this site. Instagram may be more popular, but I like the photo gallery effect on Pinterest better for viewing.

Pinterest is like a photo candy store where everything is on display and easy to see.

I especially like the great banner photos that sometimes include scripture. You'll see images and words that can leave a lasting impression.

Alex Wire is on Pinterest and I have other "boards" that I can have fun with as well.

What are your thoughts on Pinterest?

It's Casual Friday: I'm #Eastwooding!

Eastwooding in Orange County, Aug. 31, 2012.

I usually creep-out a little bit at anything viral. But I'm taking a backseat to Clint Eastwood and his empty-chair talk last night at the GOP convention.

The New York Daily News writes: "The 'Dirty Harry' actor used a wooden chair as a prop during his Republican National Convention speech Thursday night, with the empty seat representing an invisible President Barack Obama."

How make-my-day is that?!

“So Mr. President, how do you handle promises you’ve made?” the 82-year-old Hollywood director and Mitt Romney supporter said to the chair. (NY Daily)

So, I'm sitting at my laptop with two stories still to write... and my exercise for the day still on hold... it's Friday... and I'm going casual... FULL POST

Changed Lives: Harvest America (PHOTOS)

Photos by Don Haynes

"The scope of the event has gone from a stadium event over the weekend to now over 2,200 sites that are coming and being a part of this via the Internet or satellite streaming. It's harder to get your arms around, but the stories we are hearing around the country … churches are gathering together in theaters or high school auditoriums and they are taking on their community with this event." - Harvest Executive Director John Collins told The Christian Post shortly before Harvest America began on Sunday.

I Can Only Imagine
By: MercyMe
Written By: Bart Millard
I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk
By Your side
I can only imagine
What my eyes will see
When Your face
Is before me
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

Surrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for You Jesus
Or in awe of You be still?
Will I stand in Your presence
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

I can only imagine
When that day comes
And I find myself
Standing in the Son
I can only imagine
When all I will do
Is forever, forever worship You
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

Surrounded by Your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for You Jesus
Or in awe of You be still?
Will I stand in Your presence
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah
Will I be able to speak at all?

Admit that you are a sinner.
Romans 3:23 says, "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
Matthew 5:48 tells us God's standard: "be perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect."

Realize that Jesus Christ died on the cross for you.
John 3:16: "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life."
Romans 5:8: "God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Repent of your sin.
Acts 17:30: "But now He commands all people everywhere to repent."
2 Corinthians 7:10: "For Godly sorrow leads to repentance that leads to salvation without regret. . ."
Receive Jesus Christ into your life.
Have you asked Jesus to come into your life?
Jesus said, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if you will hear My voice and open the door, I will come in."

Receive Jesus Christ into your life.
Have you asked Jesus to come into your life?
Jesus said, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if you will hear My voice and open the door, I will come in."

Do it publicly.
Jesus said, "whoever acknowledges me before men, I will acknowledge before My Father who is in Heaven."
Do it now.
The Bible says, "Today is the day of salvation."
Jesus said, "Whoever is not with Me is against me. . ."

Harvest America: 'We should all leverage our personal influence'

(Photo: Harvest Ministries)

"We should all leverage our personal influence towards this event as well, through Instagram posts, tweets, status updates and #harvestamerica hashtags. This thing should generate some mega traffic and turn heads all over the place. You never know what God can do with even the smallest things we offer to Him in faith." - Pastor Levi Lusko, Harvest America host.

Temecula Valley: Environmental Experts to Determine Whether Churches and Winegrowers Can Coexist

(Photo: Calvary Chapel Bible Fellowship)

"That's all we really wanted. Now it takes all the guesswork out of it. Now there are no emotions in it. Now it's just facts. It's a huge victory because now it takes all the emotion out of the argument of 'I don't want churches because this, that, or the other.' Now the experts look at it and say 'yes, there is a problem,' or 'no, there is not a problem' and then we can all be done with the issue." - Pastor Clark Van Wick, whose church, Calvary Chapel Bible Fellowship convinced Riveside County officials to consider churches in wine country.

Quote of the Day: 'Air Horse One'

"There is nothing this country so desperately needs as spiritual revival and I am so thankful that God gave this vision to Greg and the Harvest team to put this phenomenally massive outreach together. Especially as we move towards a presidential election, everyone is clamoring for hope and change; but the answer to our country's problems isn't who is living in the White House, but rather who is coming on a white horse – Air Horse One – I'm talking about Jesus Christ!" - " Pastor Levi Lusko, who serves as the host at Harvest events.

Temecula Valley Wine Country: No Churches Among the Grapes?

(Photo: Calvary Chapel Bible Fellowship)

Winegrowers have to be a hyper-sensitive lot. I mean have you ever tried to grow grapes?

It takes the right soil, the right climate, the right time to harvest and so on to create just the right grapes to make wine. That's even before the winemaking process itself starts... after which everything else has to line up just right as well.

If growing grapes to make wine is your livelihood I imagine that a lot of things that might upset the whole process, beginning with your vines' environment, can set you off in a tailspin.

Perhaps even churches growing amongst your grapes. Especially in the Temecula Valley Wine Country of Riverside County, Calif.

So, quietly without any fanfare, more than ten years ago the county sided with the winegrowers of the region and kept those pesky, obtrusive churches from ever being built in their area. FULL POST

Heading Into Harvest (America); Keeping the Main Thing the Main Thing

(Photo: Alex Murashko)
View of the crowd from the press box at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles during Harvest LA in 2011.

As the world's news swirls around us I think it's important to keep the main thing the main thing – that Jesus is on the throne.

Last week's stories from me included an interesting mix of movie reviews, a pastor's sermon, and a study on Christians sharing (or not) their faith.

But as I write and report on mine, and constantly scan and read the news, it occurs to me that a focus on God is so important.

Some events help us do that. It could be as simple as a Sunday worship service, or simplier yet, a quiet time alone of reading the Bible and prayer. FULL POST
