It's been a blessing the last month or so to hangout with Tim Timmons while serving in a local ministry here in the OC Santa Ana style. He's a devout follower of Jesus Christ and a great family man. I saw this tweet from him today and thought I'd share.

Pastor Rick Warren to Share Vision for Saddleback Church Irvine Campus

City Officials to Thank Leader with Local, Global Reach; Celebrate 5 Years in Community

IRVINE, Calif. – Best-selling author and pastor Rick Warren plans to visit Saddleback Church’s Irvine regional campus at Northwood High School on Sunday in celebration of five years in Orange County’s gateway city.

Mayor Steven Choi, along with Councilwoman Christina Shea, are scheduled to award Warren with a certificate of recognition for his “significant leadership role in supporting and impacting thousands of lives through the ministry of Saddleback Church.”

“This year, we celebrated Irvine’s 5-year anniversary. Saddleback Irvine has added 675 new members and 375 people of Irvine have been baptized,” Warren said. “Let’s give God praise for the blessings of changed lives in Irvine, and look to see more transformation.”

Harvest America: For People Like Jonathan

Only 18 days until Harvest America!

Last year when we did this nationwide outreach, we had 300,000 in live attendance at over 2,400 venues around the United States. Best of all, we saw 15,000 make professions of faith to follow Jesus Christ.

One of those people was a young boy named Jonathan whose mom took him to a church hosting Harvest America in the Bay Area. Jonathan made a commitment to follow Jesus Christ that night. But that is not where the story ends.

The day after Harvest America, he told his mom that he had a headache, and the pastor prayed for him. Jonathan got sicker and was admitted to the hospital, where they found he had leukemia.

Jonathan went to be with the Lord the following Wednesday. FULL POST

Peaceful Demonstrators? Western Media Mischaracterized Muslim Brotherhood Protesters in Egypt Says Ministry Leader

The following is an open letter from a physician and ministry leader whose ministry includes working with the people of Egypt. It was written shortly after the horrific violence in the country erupted on Aug. 14.

Dear Friends,

As a human being and a physician, I categorically and unconditionally deplore all killing. As a father, my heart goes out to all those who lost sons and daughters in Egypt's violence today and since the uprising of June 30. Nevertheless, in the middle of a frenzy of Western politicians and Western media consistently presenting only one side -- the Islamists' -- I could not let this day pass without sharing some thoughts and some truths. For the last six weeks since the overthrow of Mohammed Morsi, the Western media consistently portrayed the sit-ins that paralyzed Cairo and other parts of Egypt as sit-ins by "peaceful demonstrators". 'ReMoved' Wins Best Film, $1 Million at 168 Festival - VIDEO TEASER

A short film about a girl's journey through extreme hardships in the foster care system and later toward healing and restoration, was the winner of the Best Film for the 168 Film Festival and recipient of an award of up to $1 million to go for production of a feature length movie.

Inspired by her Foster Parent training, the film "ReMoved" was written by Christina Matanick and lensed by Tony Cruz. The short film won four awards from 13 nominations, including Best Film, Actress, Editor, Makeup and Hair...

Put On Whole Armor of God; Stand Firm Against All Strategies

The Whole Armor of God - Ephesians 6:10-18 (New Living Translation)

A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. Billy Coleman Takes a Stand in Cullman County Alabama; Prayer Caravan Gets Nationwide Attention

Excerpt from Billy Coleman’s statement at press conference in Cullman County, Alabama on Aug. 6, 2013:

“There has been a lot of debate on what was inside the heads of our founding fathers when this country was established. Why did they write what they wrote? What was the meaning of the First Amendment and public free exercise of religious belief? There is a host of documentation as to their original intent, including that found in the 1789 Northwest Ordinance, adopted after the First Amendment was ratified: ‘Religion, morality, and knowledge, being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged.’
