A shortened version of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" trailer that leaves out the partial nudity, whip and bondage of the full-length version was featured on NBC’s morning show Thursday morning.

Though the Today Show trailer stopped short of its racier full-length conclusion, the sneak peek showed in full detail the sexy yet one-sided and admittedly non-romantic nature of the main characters Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey’s relationship.

"Fifty Shades" actors Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan made a guest appearance on the Today Show couch to introduce the trailer. Dakota said of filming the movie’s love scenes, “It’s not like a romantic situation.” She summed “It’s more like a task.”

Johnson, though excited for the film’s debut, said she would not want her actor parents to see the film.

The movie, based on the popular book by E. L. James, is expected to dominate the box office when it releases on Valentine’s Day.

The erotic fiction has been hailed as a sexual awakening among married women. However Dannah Gresh, co-author for Pulling Back the Shades: Erotica, Intimacy, and the Longings of a Woman's Heart with clinical psychologist Dr. Juli Slattery, questioned the book’s real value. Gresh said married female readers may experience a temporary spike in their desire for their husbands but in the long term, she told the Christain Post, “The research really does tell us that both porn and erotica, when a man or a woman is engaging in them they do become less interested in real sex. It does draw you away from real people, not towards someone”
