Recently there has been a growing interest in disconnecting from the Internet and electronic devices. Paul Miller disconnected from the Internet for one year.

Miller explains in The Verge his motivation for this unusual action:

One year ago I left the internet. I thought it was making me unproductive. I thought it lacked meaning. I thought it was "corrupting my soul."

 Sabbath Manifesto has popularized the "Digital Sabbath" which is abstaining one day a week from the Internet . Perhaps the biggest popularizer of fasting from the digital lifestyle is the National Day of Unplugging that is held in March.
