Raising Our Standards by Asking Probing Questions

text size A A A

Some of the world's largest and most successful corporations ask offbeat questions to probe the creative processes and problem solving abilities of possible job candidates.

The following infographic by Super Scholar lists some offbeat recruitment questions:

  • "If you were to get rid of one state in the US, which would it be and why?"
  • "If you were shrunk to the size of a pencil and put in a blender, how would you get out?"

Some churches also use an interview/questioning process to hire ministers. Often questions about abortion and infallibity of scripture are asked in conservative churches. Maybe the churches should be asking more open ended questions like these:

  • In your opinion what is the biggest flaw in American churches and what would you do here to prevent such problems from occurring?
  • What is your favorite method of discipleship?
