Godless: Where Did My America Go?

text size A A A

When I was 18-years old, I like many other testosterone driven young men enlisted in the Armed Forces. I was proud. Proud of living in a country where I had the freedom to say what I believe. A country that while others’ viewpoints may have differed from mine, they still enjoyed the same freedoms that come from being an American citizen. Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the right to bear arms; just some of our constitutional freedoms guaranteed to us by the Bill of Rights. For over 21-years, I got up each morning and insured that America could rise and sleep under the very blanket of freedom that our U.S. soldiers provide. We lived by a code, Integrity first... Service before Self... and Excellence in all we do. While mere words to some, these words represent a backbone of heritage spent defending more than a piece of cloth with fifty stars and thirteen stripes. And though I may not have always agreed with the political or moral climate in America, I was appreciative of the fact that I could stand up and say what I believed without the fear of being persecuted.

America has always been a melting-pot of differing faiths and ethnicities. We pride ourselves of having the ability of obtaining that “American Dream.” A dream that many people gave their lives heroically for on the battlefield; or tragically by the hands of terrorist cowards trying to disrupt our way of life. There once was an unmistakable sense of pride that ran through America. But now as I watch the news and look around at our quickly declining society, I’m left asking, “Where did my America go?” Think of the irony. America, a land that fought so hard to become free, has now ultimately become enslaved once again. We have become imprisoned by an un-payable national debt; embraced by an entitlement driven society; and led by a man that holds the office of President, yet daily shreds the Constitution the he swore to uphold and defend. This is not the America my forefathers thought of when constructing the Declaration of Independence; or is it?

Despite how the leftist agenda may try and convince you otherwise. Great men of God founded America upon biblical principles. Men like George Washington, John Adams, and John Hancock were all strong God-fearing men. These where the same men that knew what needed to be secured by the U.S. Constitution and Declaration of Independence and centered on the Almighty Word of God. These men knew that there would come a day such as this that our way of life would be challenged. A day that John Hancock foresaw when he said, “Resistance to tyranny becomes the Christian and social duty of each individual... Continue steadfast and, with a proper sense of your dependence on God, nobly defend those rights which heaven gave, and no man ought to take from us." (History of the United States of America, Vol. II, p. 229)

America wake up! We are now living in that America. An America that forcefully pushes for rights of those wanting to have immoral sex and falsely marry; but hardly utters a word to protect the thousands of innocent children that are murdered by abortion each year. An America that points its finger at gun violence, yet places more credibility in the way a weapon looks, rather than examining the mental state of the person who used it unjustly. And finally, an America that speaks of success and prosperity, yet spits in the face of its creator by telling Him; “We don’t want you here anymore.”

So is America doomed? If you know your Bible, you already know the answer. And that answer is... in the end, Yes. But while America is predestined to lose, Christians are not. And I for one, while eagerly awaiting Christ’s return, am not ready to see this once great nation implode. A line in the sand has got to be drawn. Either we continue down the same path of destruction led by an Anything But Christ culture or we turn back to our first love. While I applaud those patriot-minded individuals who love this country and want to get back to those lost days of baseball and grandmas apple pie. Having a constitutional view is not enough. There are many that claim to love this country, but what they are failing to understand is that this country was not founded only on the Constitution. It was founded upon the laws of men, and the laws of God. This continued half-hearted commitment to God’s Word is primarily to blame for what we see occurring in America today. This nation will rise or fall based on the spiritual lives of its believers; not the beliefs of men. It is time that we as a nation heed God’s call, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).

America, we still have a chance. And despite what the Washington controlled media tries to brainwash you to think; the minority voice does not speak for the majority of Americans that still love God and country. This country was and forever will be founded foremost on Godly principles. And while our great nation seems as if its ablaze. Don’t count America out just yet. Americans are fed up. And a new breed of proud American is beginning to be born. Yes, they will face persecution. Yes, they will face being called rebellious or intolerant. But in the end they will do just as our great biblical leaders once instructed and, “Smash their sacred stones and burn their Asherah poles in the fire, cutting down idols” (Deuteronomy 12:3). For from these ashes a new republic shall be born. “This nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” ~ Abraham Lincoln, Gettysburg Address, November 19, 1863.
