Long time readers of the Monday Morning Message know that I do not promote very many things on these weekly chats with you. My efforts to enlighten you and share spiritual and Biblical insights are still the central purpose of my efforts in communicating with you. I will try to observe that even this week when I invite each of you to come and visit a new website that is dedicated to greater shareholder involvement, www.shareowners.org .
I do hope you will sign up and invite others to sign up as well since the voice of Christians and people of faith has been sadly lacking as it relates to corporate governance. Some of the issues will be complicated but others are very straight forward and a website that offers a central clearing house of bringing attention and focus to the general public has long been overdue. The website offers ways to invite you to join us but I decided to invite you in a personal way via the MMM.
This is not as important as the mission of the church or the Great Commission to preach the Gospel everywhere. But, in the world in which we find ourselves as shareholders in a wide variety of companies, people of faith speaking together could have an impact on millions of people. Let's get together and learn about what is happening in our companies and then reflect on what God would have us to do as his disciples. Then again, maybe it is part of the Great Commission since it could be a witness to others how we conduct ourselves as responsible shareholders ...
James 3:16-17 (RSV) "For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, without uncertainty or insincerity."
