The Mission field is right here in America

For centuries missionaries have went outside of our nation spreading the gospel. I have even traveled on several mission trips and noticed similarities in America and overseas. All over the world people are poor, oppressed, families divided, and people need to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ just like in America. Don't get me wrong, we are more fortunate economically than many other countries but we still need the gospel and the love of Christ spread right here in our nation.

It's seems to me that the bible is becoming more of a good story book to many people in our nation. Many of our children have never even opened a bible let alone know who their savior and creator of the universe is. The only means of our children learning about creation is through school which of course teaches evolution. By the time kids get to college, they are exposed to all other kinds of religions and opinions contrary to Christianity. How does one make a decision on what is the truth when he or she may have never been exposed to the gospel? Many people believe religion and truth is relative and whatever you believe is truth. In essence people are making their own gods and never coming into the knowledge of Christ.

We can see the results of people not knowing the gospel truth with the increase of immorality, crime, division, violence, etc. And believe it or not, the people who live this kind of lifestyle actually claim to be Christians! I'm sorry to say that this is the mentality of many people in our nation. The bible teaches many things that are contrary to what the flesh wants to do. And people still argue about the validity of the scriptures claiming that the word of God is just man's opinion. If it were up to mortal man, we would not put scriptures like loving our enemies even when they do us wrong. Therefore it's easy to misinterpret or change things in the bible to fit what we want to do. But Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.(Hebrews 13:8)

Since we have an increase in many American's that haven't heard the gospel truth in our nation, the mission field is needed here too. In the same way people haven't heard about Christ, grace, and redemption in other nations, many don't know about this in America. We live in a society that has economic challenges, hatred, immoral behavior, and people need to hear about the love of Christ and His redemption right here in the United States!

Jesus said to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15) and I'm sure some of us would love to go on mission trips, minister, and feed the hungry outside of the United States if the opportunity came to us. But remember that the mission field could be right next door, at the job, in school, or any other place that you may go. The bible says, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few." (Matthew 10:37) I believe in the times that we are living in with the economy and everything else that has evolved from it, people are open to the grace, love, and hope of the gospel message. The hearts of many are waiting for you to spread this hope to a nation that has not heard or read the bible. You are living on the mission field and required to spread the love of God where ever you go.
