How To Have A Happy New Year

"Happy New Year!" If you are like me, you are tired of hearing these words by now. Do not misunderstand me; I am not against being happy in the New Year. In fact, I believe every breath and each new day is a gift from God and a reason to be happy –not just the New Year. What makes a year a happy one is based on who we plan to serve in the New Year—God or ourselves.

I don't need to remind you that in the past few years America has come very close to the abyss economically, socially, and above all spiritually. The bible makes it very clear "blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord"(Psalms 33:12). Very slowly we have capitulated to the godless forces that seek to remove God from public life. Actually, we have done worse than that. We have sat in pews in churches where the Truth of Christ has been denied and we have done nothing.

Politically

We have a president who has single handedly rewritten American history by denouncing our deep biblical and Christian foundation.

To add insult to injury, he travelled to three Muslim dominated countries exalting the virtues of Islam. When he did, he signaled to Muslim activists in the U.S. that they have a free hand to push their agenda in America—and gave Islamic countries a green light to persecute Christian minorities.

Socially

The Obama administration, in coordination with their lackluster congress, voted to repeal the military's "Don't Ask, Don' Tell" policy thus beginning the possible dismantling of the finest and most compassionate military force known to man.

Spiritually

More and more pastors are joining the heretical chorus of "universalism" and, knowingly or not, are calling our Lord Jesus Christ a liar. He is the one who said, "I am THE WAY.....". This mindset became fashionable among so-called evangelicals after famous preachers decided, for the sake of popularity, to deny the very truth that they claim to believe.

Thankfully, there is hope!

I was led to call for a global prayer movement for repentance and revival—a call that must begin with us. It must begin with me. (www.WorldRevival.org)

I repent of sitting idly by while the Gospel came under attack.

I repent of seeking what is expedient.

I repent of every acceptable and fashionable social sin.

I repent of seeking my own welfare.

I repent of not placing God's glory ahead of everything else.

I repent of not speaking for my voiceless and persecuted brothers and sisters.

I repent of not giving more to the kingdom of God than I have spent on myself.

Surely, as we humble ourselves and repent of our wicked ways, the Lord in heaven will hear us from heaven and answer our prayers...

May we all have a God glorifying year
