Divine Health and Cancer

text size A A A

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently warned about a coming tidal wave of cancer. The institution perceives a strange increasing trend for which causes are not fully known and solutions elusive.

Pro 1:22  How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? 23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. 24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; 25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; 27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. 1:28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

It has become more difficult to express spiritual burdens without agonizing on correctness, trying hard to sound unhateful and managing the arrows of scorn certain to come whenever God’s truths are presented. We are also told to say only what we can all agree on … and the prophetic voice is either completely silenced or plainly ridiculed until we face challenges and then we rush to our bag of church tricks and pull out prayers out of the “hat” besieging the throne of a merciful God for healing.

14 million people are presently diagnosed each year with the disease … a number projected to reach 24M by 2035 .. and WHO is advocating more restrictions on alcohol and sugar intake given that 5o% of cancer can be prevented. The changing demographic with longer lifespans and popularity of western diet rich in sugar and fat are also expected to increase the risks. Lifestyle factors are becoming the focus because of the much higher cost expected to be borne by economies to treat the disease … hinting that governments may need to impose strong measures forcing more responsible lifestyles. It can be argued that the richer economies can afford more sugar, alcohol, fats and whatever lifestyle they wish and are less likely to quickly impose further checks unlike the poorer nations who have over time abandoned their natural traditional meals and ways for more synthetic foods, drinks and habits presented by snazzy advertising as trendy… most of the more harmful substances are addictive but also increasingly cheaper and exported to environments with little education, food and medical regulation or sophistication to understand what is being consumed.

The Bible has a deeper view on the issue …and claims a solution.

Exo_15:26  And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

Diligence in studying and listening for what God is saying and obeying that which God approves … and accepting all His statutes must seem to a few as asking too much and others will insist that there can possibly be no agreement on what these statutes are. Others conclude that returning to these statutes is to go back to the middle ages.

But if cancer treatment costs continue to escalate perhaps it should encourage resurgence in critical reexamination of modern lifestyles and how they align to God’s statutes … eventually resulting in return to seeking and adherence to divine knowledge offered by a God who promises Divine Health … only that the costs will be different. But you can choose to believe God's different report today.

Isa 53:1  Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
