Do you know Him?

How can we know someone as awesome, as mighty, as limitless, as infinite as God except that He reveals Himself to us. God is great. We are grass. How much of God will grass ever discover. Yet God reveals Himself to us by His creation, by His living word and by His innumerable hosts of messengers and ministering angels, watching over us. Indeed, much of our wanderings and problems arise from poor knowledge of God. The enemy of our soul, he himself having been one of his most trusted angels before, does know well that those that know their God will be undefeatable in their exploits.

The result of not knowing God is that we fret, we fear, we are too easily discouraged and place too much emphasis on our deeds - good or bad, as if they could do anything to God's infinite purposes. If we knew God, then we will know that God sees our thoughts clearly from afar - even before the thoughts came to us. God is so complex and so simple. He is so big and yet so small. He does not need a microscope to manage the unseen cells and organisms yet to be discovered. He does not need a telescope or a space ship to reach out to galaxies that fit into his hands. How could we describe Him. All our words are too limited, because we can only use our experience and created senses to observe that which created us and is well beyond our experience. All our words fail.

If God does not reveal Himself to us, then seeking to know Him would be fruitless. But in Christ we see God walk the earth. In His word, we see God in print. In His Holy Spirit we see God as our comforter. The Son, the Father and the Holy Spirit ... all the same God. The Bible says that mankind is different in that we were made in His own image. Even angels were not said to be made in the image of God. Do you know that angels marvel at humanity and learn about God from observing us.

Satan fights the knowledge of God in our lives more than any other attribute. He fills our minds with knowledge ... so much vain knowledge, so we are limited. Can you imagine the difference to the brothers of Joseph when they knew God and knew they were forgiven and all is well. When we know God, we will realize we need not walk in guilt. He has forgiven us. When we walk in guilt, we walk in fear and continually carry burdens we are not even meant to lift.

All I once held dear, built my life upon - All this world reveres, and wars to own
All I once thought gain I have counted loss - Spent and worthless now, compared to this
Knowing you, Jesus
, knowing you, There is no greater thing
You're my all, you're the best You're my joy, my righteousness ... And I love you, Lord

Prayer: O Lord, reveal Yourself even more in my life. Amen
