Nasty Solar Storms and Black-outs ahead

text size A A A

It was recently reported in Yahoo News "The sun is about to get a lot more active, which could have ill effects on Earth. So to prepare, top sun scientists met Tuesday to discuss the best ways to protect Earth's satellites and other vital systems from the coming solar storms.....People of the 21st century rely on high-tech systems for the basics of daily life. But smart power grids, GPS navigation, air travel, financial services and emergency radio communications can all be knocked out by intense solar activity...."

I wonder why the sudden spate of gloomy predictions... as disaster after disaster seem deliberately targeted to threaten even most basic comforts. We could not travel as we wanted; our beaches are as blood of dead men and now this? What would happen if there were a complete blackout of radio, electrical and communication /radar signals due to inexplicable solar activity?

In Exodus 10[21] And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt. [22] And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days: [23] They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings. [24] And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.

Is there a plague of global darkness coming in which only the children of God will have light? Today, the need for light from within - the glow of the fire of the Holy Spirit to lead and guide appears almost unnecessary in an era of deep human insights, hi-technology and ultra-intelligence. But if this news item is to be believed, some top scientists are preparing for when modern systems fail...

In a tough overwhelming storm, David strangely does not craft a new leadership theory or turnaround plan for deliverance but instead cries for divine guidance to be led to safety in the Rock.

Psalm 61[1] Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. [2] From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

He humbly admits his blindness and seeks to be led to the Rock higher than all the overwhelming waves and his agenda, human reasoning and comprehension. The baptism, guidance and controlling leadership of the Holy Spirit is for many now passé. Outmoded, as modern day gurus offer brilliant, new and higher thoughts. The Holy Spirit appears rude not to consult our feeble senses nor to require the approval or understanding of established academic, political, religious or other authority. He wants to be desired and seeks control and the throne of our hearts. He has no plans to share His glory with others as He leads His children even in the darkest period. For David, the guidance and presence of the Comforter is superior to miraculous disappearance of troubles.

Are we in the end times? Is there more behind the earthquakes, ash, and recent oil spill?  Why all these compelling signs? In Luke 21[10] Then said Jesus unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: [11] And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. ... [28] And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

We admit we have already seen more than a beginning of these things. Is it time to look up ... be encouraged...be excited...as we expect the final and most glorious stages of victory?

A friend sent me a text on the phone encouraging me in the final phrase to remain rapturable. The same Holy Spirit that heard our cries and filled us as He led us through all the storms and blackouts will select His own..."in the twinkling of an eye".

On a brighter note and perhaps for entrepreneurs who expect a business idea to beat the recession - local/home power systems, alternative power and energy generation and transmission and communication technologies will be even more attractive as the customer proactively seeks new recovery solutions.

"Pharaoh" laughs and mocks at this blog post and the primitive notion of "Rapture". What a ridiculous escapist fantasy - a well orchestrated rebellion against his rule would have been more believable. Sneering...and as though to reward the creative imagination that suggests we will one day be free of all tears and pains (as he did in Exodus 10...after the 9th plague of darkness) "Pharaoh" offers a conditional release to serve God on his terms without our wealth and substance. Moses rejects this offer ..."for we know not with what we must serve the Lord"... and the Lord hardens Pharaoh to hold on to the children of Israel.

Luke 19:13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

If you know Jesus as Lord but have not received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, do cry to God for it...for you can not be without His comfort, presence and guidance. If you have, cry also for a fresh encounter.

Do remain hidden in His secret place - rapturable ....the tenth and final plague comes ...soon the "true riches". God bless you.

Amen
