No more Suicides (Part 2)

text size A A A

Why suddenly so many suicides amongst Evangelicals – someone has asked? I wrote an earlier article Masterpiece of the Accuser  - in which I described suicide as perhaps the worst of the enemy’s wicked ploys. Sadly, I observe that the overwhelming impression in many other Christian articles I read suggests that those who commit suicide may go to Heaven because of God’s mercy. I fear that the outcome of such corrupt theology is that many now perceive suicide as a legitimate way out of the trials that we are told will come to all.

Judas committed suicide and we know where he is to be found …the home of sons of perdition, Hell. Now I know many think this is a hurtful thing to say given the pains of families grieving. If Judas had a family and a ministry, and good standing in the community, we will be expected to mourn him and speak only of God’s grace ... even suggesting the one Christ called the child of perdition was saved.

At the root of the issue lies many others such as the denial of the existence of Hell, weak understanding and disinterest in spiritual warfare and a pervasive humanism fast replacing a revelation of truths. If we study the Bible, we see that Job, David, Paul and perhaps many others were very close to suicide but they did not take their life … because they knew and loved the God who owns and gave life for a specific purpose …a purpose He will still work out and none has the right to terminate. David even feared taking the life of his attacker Saul whom he saw as God's anointed.

For many, warfare against demons is as science fiction when Christ specifically said we are to cast out devils and to bombard evil fortifications – the gates of Hell, so that even lawful captives can be released to a glorious destiny. Principles of warfare /deliverance teach us to understand the power in the word of God and in the name of Jesus Christ, to come under His blood and finished work to silence every accusation of men, to bind on earth the Devil’s progress and decree he releases his grip on our lives on earth as so will it be in heaven, to fight the fight of faith and confess our victories in Christ. We should be more like Christ who prayed often in times of trials and the early saints such as David who went through many serious bouts of depression but still confessed ...

Psa_118:17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.

Life is extremely precious … so much can change for the living for good. It does not help that there will be too many well-meaning saints like Job’s friends who can only see the depressed through the earthbound lens of their past, not understanding the discussions in heaven or greater future dimensions and possibilities with God that exceed the realm of human reason and experience.

What will cure suicides? Not friends, not human sympathy and comfort ministrations but a deeper revelation of and love for God, a hunger for God and an obstinate attachment to God ... trusting Him especially when circumstances look horridly bleak. The kind of love that caused David (not denying guilt), at Bahurim to declare as he was stoned by his subjects …

2Sa 16:10  And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the LORD hath said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Wherefore hast thou done so? 11 And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, which came forth of my bowels, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him. 12 It may be that the LORD will look on mine affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his cursing this day.

Have we not read of the miraculous works that happened even when the widow of Zarepath gave out her last meal as she waited for death and how a desperate situation changed according to the word of the Lord.

1 Kings 17:16 : and the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.

When we plunge into the unlimited flood of the Holy Spirit and word of God, finding that He is able to do exceedingly above all our expectations … even our greatest expectations of deliverance …and we are taught to fear Him …and to love and obey Him … we will not listen to the enemy’s repeated conclusion that there is no hope.

Ecc 9:4  For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.

How can I say that you, who many call a lost case, are better than a Mandela who is now dead? But this is the word of God. Reflect on what God has done in the past even with Moses at 80. I see God starting something fresh, new and amazing in your life though it appears not to be so. Put your trust in Him.

Never listen to the voice of the one who has come to steal, kill and destroy … he has always been a liar from the beginning and continues to lie about your recovery. You will surely recover all.. Amen

Psa_143:11  Quicken me, O LORD, for thy name's sake: for thy righteousness' sake bring my soul out of trouble.

But you need first to repent and come to Christ who delivers, if you have not done so ....
