The Complexity of Islamic Persecution. Maza, Jos Nigeria Attack on 17th July 2010 and Politics.

Psalm 122 [6] Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

In my previous writings I discerned a strong but not always obvious link between oppression and recession. In dealing with issues related to economic recovery and prosperity (material and spiritual) one cannot detach from pains of the body of Christ ... even in quiet poor corners.

Ask Queen Esther. It is easier to sympathise with the plight of prisoners, AID’s victims, orphans, the hungry and strangers than to step into the arena of people groups targeted for complete extermination. Truly, only those unafraid to confront their "flesh" and have fully conquered their personal fears and self-life can challenge threats of death and respond boldly and truthfully to challenge the progress of satanically inspired genocide.

Esther 4 [16] Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish. [17] So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him. FULL POST

BP can rebuild its reputation after containing the Oil Spill.

BP is facing a cleanup and possible legal bill of over $60Billion. Implications of damage to image are probably much more severe. BP's sins are said to have been exacerbated by several wrong moves which include:

  • Downplaying the news
  •  Misjudgement of the public sentiment
  • Hiding behind its "green" propaganda as an "Environment leader"
  • Blaming others

Experts suggest that BP must flood journalists with constantly updated information about the Deepwater Horizon - a step the company has already taken by placing footage of the cleanup efforts on its site. According to a recent article in Time Magazine, Can BP Ever Rebuild Its Reputation? "BP will "need a total brand overhaul," including even perhaps a name change "in order to hit the delete button on the bad history." Many predict BP will get a new CEO once the oil spill is over - most likely someone unconnected to the current management..." FULL POST

Recent UFO sightings in China, Extraterrestrial phenomena and the Bible

According to CNN reports  "one of two recent UFO sightings in China occurred almost on the 63rd anniversary of news that a "flying disc" had been found in Roswell, New Mexico. And like in 1947, people either choose to believe or be sceptical that visitors have stopped by from outer space. Nothing has officially been ruled in or out by Chinese officials, who are looking into whether the objects were private or military aircraft, rocket flares, reflection in the sky or something else. The first sighting occurred at Hangzhou's Xiaoshan Airport, in the eastern part of the country, according to the state-controlled Xinhua news agency....Eighteen flights were delayed or rerouted and operations shut down after twinkling lights were spotted above the terminal around 9 p.m. July 7, the agency said. ..."

Deuteronomy 4 [15] Therefore take good heed to yourselves, since you saw no form of Him on the day the Lord spoke to you on Horeb out of the midst of the fire, [16] Beware lest you become corrupt by making for yourselves [to worship] a graven image in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female, [17] The likeness of any beast that is on the earth, or of any winged fowl that flies in the air, [18] The likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, or of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth. [19] And beware lest you lift up your eyes to the heavens, and when you see the sun, moon, and stars, even all the host of the heavens, you be drawn away and worship them and serve them, things which the Lord your God has allotted to all nations under the whole heaven. “Wealth out of Ashes” God’s Wonderful Intervention in Crisis.

In the book “Wealth out Ashes” I wrote, on the Benefits of Crisis, that first we must see beyond the negatives.

  • Crisis is a time of intense shaking that leaves behind great strength, and removes the debris and impurities as well as preparing us for the future.
  • Crisis is the time of building and shining to the glory of God as God is proved.
  • Crisis establishes covenant relationships and trains you to restore others.
  • Crisis repositions you back on the track God has destined.
  • Crisis levels the playing field again and creates the opportunity for a fresh beginning.

5 Common Myths about Money and God

1. Money, Riches and Achievement will make you happy and fulfilled.
Truth : Money will fulfil our lusts and whet our desires but will not buy the peace, joy and inner strength and calm we need to be fulfilled and at rest.

Micah 6[12] For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth. [13] Therefore also will I make thee sick in smiting thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins. [14] Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; and that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword. Riches, pleasures can be obtained but satisfaction is a separate virtue that God must send not necessarily as a consequence of wealth. Ecclesiastes 5[10] He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. The challenge is that riches promote lusts and desires that steal our hearts from God...and when we love silver we are cursed with never being satisfied and always wanting more...a path that leads to a downward spiral.

2. God gives us what we desire and supplies our wants.
Truth: God gives us what He decides in His unquestionable benevolence to give us for His glory and purpose. True works of God do not lack for funds. FULL POST

Double-dip Recession or the best half for 4 lepers

Peter Morici, a professor at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business, says the likelihood of a double-dip is at least 50 percent. "What's going to happen here is either the economy is not going to collapse, or it's going to avalanche. Because once you start cycling down, then it develops a momentum of itself. And if it goes down a second time, then it becomes very difficult to resuscitate [it]," he says in Yahoo Finance article.

For investors, a double-dip, if it materializes, would be a throwback to 2008, with a floundering economy punishing stock returns. Jeff Tjornehoj, Lipper's research manager for the United States and Canada, says the Dow Jones industrial average could touch 9,000 by the close of 2010. "Is it reasonable to expect it? I think it's reasonable to put some odds on it," he says.

Nahum 1[9] What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time. FULL POST

Fourth of July Spectacles, The World Cup and Innocent Amusements

America Independence Day Celebrations
America Independence Day Celebrations

Happy Independence America! But, the greatest freedom is not freedom to do what we want but freedom from sin. We have nothing to celebrate if we are still slaves to sin.

John 8[34] Jesus answered them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, Whoever commits and practices sin is the slave of sin.[35] Now a slave does not remain in a household permanently (forever); the son [of the house] does remain forever.[36] So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free. (Amp)

Freedom is defined as the quality or state of being free - the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action. The liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another . It is the quality or state of being exempt or released usually from something onerous... the quality of being frank, open, or outspoken... unrestricted use. FULL POST

Living without AIDS – Bible perspective

The worst form of physical recession is a gradual wasting of the body ... disease that consumes flesh and deteriorates the body through rampant, uncontrollable fever and lack of nourishment, causing the eyes to fail and life to ebb away. This is exactly what AIDS does.

Leviticus 26[15] and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant, [16] I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart. (NKV)

Ecclesiates 1[9] The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. FULL POST

The Prudent “Narrow way” Investor

Understanding biblical giving and some basic Investment concepts will help believers challenge their advisers on proposals to build an optimum portfolio of assets. In all things including our investments, God can be glorified and we can put money to work, subject to modest levels of risk, in a commercial undertaking, where you expect a return over a period of time that is reasonable. We do not gamble with God’s money. Gambling is to subject our resources to such a risk so great that it is possible to lose most of it for a promise of extra-normal gains.

A study suggested that 3-5% above the rate of inflation can be a reasonable gain...our objective is to keep our money for future needs and have stable resources to respond to God’s command in giving to His work, the poor and/or other possible recipients as the Spirit of God directs.

Prioritisation is important...before we invest or even give to ministry we must often be reminded of certain issues...I certainly am not there yet but I do tend to admire the unusual candour and benchmark expressed in the following extract from Christian Fellowship Church web site based in India on the right way to give to ministry... Prayer points for Oil Spill in Gulf Coast

The news of the oil spill that has caused the worst environment disaster America has ever faced has led to rethink and fresh searches for divine insight on these and indeed other issues. Many have woken to spiritual realities that were hitherto obscured...days of prayer announced ...

As I do not live in the US, I am more drawn to local news in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria where continued spills are reported to be almost a normal occurrence...a local reporter reports in the Daily Sun...

"In a third world country like Nigeria where democracy is at infancy hence people are afraid of government instead of government being afraid of the people which is the norm in a matured democracy like the USA, nobody is expecting President Jonathan to invite the families of oil disaster victims in the Niger Delta to Aso Rock for apologies or condolences as President Barrack Obama has done with the families of the eleven oil men who lost their lives in the Gulf of Mexico inferno. Nevertheless, as a country aspiring to be one of the twenty leading economies in the world by the year 2020, it is not utopian for the victims of oil spill in the Niger Delta to expect more empathy and positive response from the oil companies who are wreaking havoc on their lives and a government that derives 95% of its foreign revenue from oil sourced in the Niger Delta. What makes International Oil Companies, IOCs operating in Nigeria appear to be shying away from their responsibilities of keeping the environment in which they operate safe and secure for the sustenance of the inhabitants of the area while they are alive to their responsibility in the middle East, Europe and USA as reflected in the current efforts by BP in the Gulf of Mexico? ..."
