Searching for the Missing Flight 370

text size A A A

The world continues to be transfixed at the realization being unveiled before us, in that hundreds have simply vanished and it is not as clear what exactly was their fate. The findings of scattered debris in different locations have yet to answer the question on what exactly happened to Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. Was there an explosion, suicide, accident, a hijack or even theft … and what went wrong and where? Latest satellite and modern technologies which have professed answers on the mystery of space, light years away, cannot now explain what happened a few miles above the earth.

1Sa 9:3  And the asses of Kish Saul's father were lost. And Kish said to Saul his son, Take now one of the servants with thee, and arise, go seek the asses.

There is a similar narration in the Bible of the story of the disappearance of Saul’s father’s asses. God uses this incident to cause a meeting with Samuel who finds the next King of Israel. Samuel is able to announce the discovery of the lost asses. It also becomes clear that God uses the disappearance to compel a greater event of the anointing of Saul. Saul is anointed by Samuel and is directed to where the asses will be found. In I Samuel 10:9, we read that Saul receives another heart from God and all happened exactly as Samuel said that very day.

1Sa 10:9 And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.

I wonder at the exactitude of discovery and understanding that seems to be lacking in present days. The true prophetic anointing that knows God intimately seems to have been snuffed and a more mechanically contrived adornment which has no clues to stun the limited world of scientific technology. Where is the prophet who can tell us where the commercial jetliner en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing is? Where is the anointed of God who sees beyond the technology of the times? Who sees what other mortals and the most powerful radar will not see.

If prophets will not see the unseen, what do they really see …and are they truly prophets …or perhaps God has chosen silence. Does the world believe in the prophetic today …given that so many charlatans have tarnished the image of that which is precious …. but ofcourse anything that is rare and precious will be faked … the fakes do not deny the existence of the masterpiece.

I remember the recent words of a friend who spoke to ministers claiming to operate in the anointing of God. … “ … we cannot buy, manipulate or politic our way into the anointing of God. Anointing is always acquired the hard God way - fasting, praying, consecration, obedience and sacrifice. There is no shortcut to it….”

It does not matter that Samuel is completely unknown to and unrecognized by Saul. There was no self-advertisement but the credentials of the prophet speaks for itself.

1Sa 9:6  And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can shew us our way that we should go.

I disagree with some who will say that no more should any be called men of God …that all New Testament Christians are men of God. Or others claiming that the prophetic gifts have passed … apparently replaced by other less certain charismatic “performance” gifts and activities on display to a gaping crowd every Sunday or worse, the flurry of demonic deceptions masquerading as the prophetic. I envision and hear God’s prophets speaking again.

It is time to know our God …to be strong and do exploits. It is time to lock into God’s perfect and unchangeable purposes that will cause all to glory at supernatural discernment that silences mockers. Even in this disappearance and in discovery, I pray God will be magnified and His greater purposes revealed. As Saul got a new heart …. may we receive a new heart to hunger and thirst after God.

Jesus Christ still says He has come to seek and save the weak, wounded and drifting sinner. Be found by Him … and let His dwelling place be your heart.
