Sickness and Jesus the Physician

text size A A A

Sickness is not a good thing nor is it your fault that you are sick. Doctors are trained to get rid of sickness therefore if you refuse to go to the doctor or seek solution for your healing, then you are to blame. You were born a sinner ... it is also not your fault that you are a sinner. All sinners have sick and troubled souls and Jesus Christ is the doctor of souls. He gives rest and heals the soul. So He says:

Matthew 11 [28] Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Where are you troubled ? Take it to Jesus. He will cause your trouble to give way to His rest. Do you remember the ass that He rode as He entered Jerusalem. No one had ever ridden on it, It was tied down. Sickness and troubles ties us down. Sorrow, witchcraft and lies tie us down. But there is grace to be untied and come to Jesus. Why don’t you come now ... do not waste another minute. When Jesus rides on your life, there is peace for He says His yoke is easy and His burden light.

Sickness is a yoke, Trouble is a burden ... but these are not the burdens of Jesus Christ ...Why don’t you exchange the controller of your life and now ask Jesus, the Doctor of souls to take charge?

A man went from hospital to hospital and from country to country searching for a solution to a rare sickness. He was prepared to pay anything and offered great sums. Many misused and abused him and robbed him of his money ...others laughed at him. Pastors preached about him and mocked him always throwing Him out – saying his was a hopeless case. He eventually ran out of resources for doctors and the many quacks that exploited him including the spiritual contractors that used him; soon his money and even his family and friends avoided him as he carried this terrible sickness until one day he met a man who said he was sure he could cure him. He pleaded...all my money is gone, can you really help me...but how can I pay you. The man said the price has been paid. Someone paid the price. What will this man do?

Will he be overjoyed and submit to the cure? Will he be suspicious of the free cure and come with doubts and unbelief – thinking there must be a catch? Will he walk away and just ignore this doctor?

How will you respond to the call of Jesus to heal the sickness in your soul? Do not postpone your surrender to His free treatment. His precious blood – a most expensive price was already paid for our sins, they beat and murdered Him on the cross and by His stripes and wounds we are already healed.

Why will you not go to Jesus to heal you? What will you say if the doctor refuses to treat you or if he turns you away but tells you to come back when you are well? Jesus came to save sinners and that includes you and me. He will not turn you away or tell you to first get rid of your sins before coming to Him. Will it not be ridiculous for a Doctor to ask a patient to get well by himself before coming again? You are to come as you is His job to deliver. Hurry Up ! Come to the Saviour. Come to Jesus and live in soul health; let Him treat all your maladies and problems and find His rest. “Come to me with all your sin ...I will save and deliver you” ... All sinners have sick souls and you were born a sinner. You may not be guilty of having a sick soul but you are surely guilty if you refuse to go to Jesus the Doctor of sick souls. You are guilty if you snob His free therapy that works. You are guilty if you prefer to give your sickness another name that helps you cling to it and justify its hold on you.

Come Now. Waiting will only give your sin a chance to do more damage in your life. What are you waiting for? Hurry!
