The year 2012 has been glorious and we have by His grace seen the anointing of the Holy Ghost come down like fire … a Holy Fire. The Fire has produced so many great testimonies, victories and we testify of many wonderful acts of preservation, mercy and healings – and perhaps some regrets and humiliations. Still these are the ashes of the fire of a year that is passing. In 2013, the Fire of God wants to burn even afresh and brighter … but must have fresh wood and not ashes. What must we do with the ashes that keeps wanting to be our focus and where do we find fresh wood?
Lev 6:10 And the priest shall put on his linen garment, and his linen breeches shall he put upon his flesh, and take up the ashes which the fire hath consumed with the burnt offering on the altar, and he shall put them beside the altar. 11 And he shall put off his garments, and put on other garments, and carry forth the ashes without the camp unto a clean place. 12 And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings. 13 The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.
The ashes must be deliberately moved outside the camp - far from the altar. Parading these ashes for men to praise God has a sense of being correct, but the real reason we tend to cling to ashes is that we love to hold on to past icons (idols) and men crave sharing the glory that comes when we declare the great works of God. We love to indirectly praise ourselves and enjoy the sense of accomplishment … but a fire trying to burn with ashes is choked to a coughing uncertain and gradual but sure extinguishing. Some must flee from the locations of past victories to burn afresh again … others must change company and even geography… new responsibilities … new challenges. To some it will seem they are starting again from zero … do not be tempted to search out or bring back the ashes. God wants to show up.
Flee from your flocking praise singers, avoid all who must dig out your trophys and present new balms for your old wounds … but chase after fresh wood that burns every morning … diligently seeking the God who is sending fresh Fire. The past seems so relevant but the victories and dealings that the fire of God has produced in your past have already been burnt. Fresh wood that must be presented every morning means a vibrant new prayer life, a devotional life, fresh revelations and meditations, fresh encounters with divine fire and God’s fiery instruments He will be sending to you. Fire seeks out Fire.
Paul knew the secret of remaining relevant and always on Fire for God. Now I appreciate better why in seeking to know God, Paul found it necessary to declare;
Php 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; 11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. 12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
As we enter 2013 expect a fresh outpouring of the Spirit, a new lease of life … a new life in the high calling of God in your ministry, family, marriage, business and in the nation. God does not restore with ashes. He comes down afresh on the fresh wood to produce a new burning and a new glow of joy, abundance and fresh awesome beginnings unrelated to the old. Expect to know the God of great restorations … the power of His resurrection and fellowship of His sufferings. Move the ashes outside the camp and burn with fresh Fire.
I have made you too small in my eyes O Lord forgive me
And I have believed in a lie that you were unable to help me
But now O Lord I see my wrong …heal my heart and show yourself strong
And in my heart and in my song …O Lord, be magnified … O Lord be magnified.
Be magnified O Lord you are highly exalted
And there is nothing you can’t do – O Lord my eyes are on you - Be magnified. O Lord be magnified.
You will enter 2013 worshiping and praising Him. The Fire of God will not go out. Amen
