A follower of Jesus. I also love Christian movies, music, and books. I am conservative in my views and an active seeker of good sense, since it is now a misnomer to call it common sense.

Scotty Sanders, author of “Quest of the Keys,” and founder of the Quest of the Keys non-profit organization, recently visited four schools in the Ouachita Parish that are involved with the organization’s pilot Quest of the Keys character development program. During his visit, Sanders spoke with more than 350 students who are participating in the program. A West Monroe, La., native now transplanted to Dallas, Texas, Sanders interacted with more than 350 students and educators who are involved with the Quest of the Keys organization’s pilot character development program. Fueled by his passion to encourage and empower the next generation to live well, Sanders originally penned his fantasy novel with the hope that the education system would use it as a teaching tool for personal development. “That is why I am excited about the prospect of educators incorporating “Quest of the Keys” into the curriculum,” Sanders explained. “By doing so, the curriculum will promote personal growth, continuous learning, responsibility, leadership development, integrity, honor and clear purpose.” FULL POST

Music is a powerful thing. It can heal, inspire, empower, and even help us to express our emotions. While not all music available to us has a positive message, one artist is seeking to make an impact on needy youth by providing a way for them to study and create music of their own.
Lindsay Huggins is Christian artist in the Nashville, Tennessee area. Her main performance focus is vocal music, but she also studied instrumental music as a child, beginning with piano around the age of five, and flute in the school band during her sixth grade year.
Music has been a large part of Lindsay’s life. She grew up in a musical family, singing and performing in church with her parents and sister. That love for music took her to Nashville after high school, where she earned a degree in music business and continued her venture for a career in music. What began as a typical desire to be in the limelight turned into something deeper. Growing in her faith and appreciation for the affect music has in her spiritual journey, Lindsay knew that her calling was more than just singing feel-good music. For the past nine years, she has traveled in Gospel music ministry, sharing the Hope and Good News of Jesus Christ in song. FULL POST

Pathlight Entertainment's Beyond the Farthest Star will open in select theaters near Dallas and Houston on October 18th, with wider distribution planned for other cinemas in the future. Filmed in Dallas and Leonard, Texas, BTFS is a richly layered story that revolves around an outdoor nativity that was burned by an angry senator...leaving it in ashes. Beyond the literal fire, there are flames of jealousy, mistrust, abuse, depression, loneliness, and rage that threaten to consume these multi-dimensional characters. Some are smoldering embers that threaten to deaden the emotions, but others shoot off sparks that reignite and cause fresh fires that threaten to consume and destroy. FULL POST

A SENATOR DESTROYS A TOWN SQUARE’S NATIVITY AT CHRISTMAS. It started as a literal fire of wooden figures and grew into a virtual flame of controversy... igniting a national debate as the media and a civil liberties group descend upon a sleepy Texas town. Can one person's crime of arson be ignored when this becomes a separation of church and state issue? Actually that is the premise of Beyond The Farthest Star, a film being released in 2013, but could easily be ripped from today's headlines.
