A growing number of Christians are celebrating Hanukkah. Sunday I joined some Christians in Dallas to celebrate this event. We discussed the use of the candles used in the Jewish temple.

Two things I learned:

1. The story of Hanukkah is recorded in the books of Maccabees 1 and 2. These books are considered apocryphal which The Free Dictionary defines as "of questionable authorship or authenticity." These books are not included in most Bibles used by Protestants.
2. The candles used in the menorah were not intended for reading.
