Navajo Family Missions Supported by American Bible Society
Taking Christianity Into the World
The American Bible Society is a non-profit organization with the goal of presenting the fullness of life through faith in Jesus Christ. The organization originally began in 1816 and continues on its ministry, still today, almost 200 years later. Last year the American Bible Society supported Family Missions, by donating three hundred Bibles, through Sugarloaf United Methodist Church in Duluth, GA, which we given to the local churches and Navajo people in Pueblo Pintado, NM. Mission work to Native Americans is not new to the American Bible Society as the first translation done by the Bible Society was done in 1818.
The American Bible Society goal is to make the Bible available to everyone in a language each can understand with the goal of making Go's life-changing word available to all. They carry out their message by:
-Affirming the power of the Holy Spirit.
-Providing Biblical translations of scripture.
-Working with churches and Christian groups.
-Advocacy of doctrinal positions.
-Making God's word come alive with effective communication tools.
This year the American Bible Society continues to support Family Missions trip by donating Bibles written in Navajo, which will be delivered in July of this year. You are read more about the American Bible Society and their efforts at http://www.americanbible.org/
