Atlanta CPA on Should You Incorporate Your Business and Where Do I Determine Where to Incorporate?

Atlanta CPA on Should You Incorporate Your Business and Where Do I Determine Where to Incorporate?

As a CPA in Metro Atlanta the most prevalent and important issue is getting your business started off on the right foot. Also it is prudent to check with your Business CPA to ensure that the entity selection is still the right one for your business, especially if there have been substantive changes in your business, ownership or operating locations. Below is a sample inquiry we might receive from a client seeking such investigative insight:

Just happened on your site. Do you have any experience(knowledge) related to the trucking(transportation industry)? I got really messed up about 5 yrs ago due to an ex wife and now have IRS and GA after me for back taxes. I am now an owner/operator and thinking of incorporating and obtaining my own motor carrier authority but I'm frightened by all the compliance and filing issues involved. The trucking part can be handled by OOIDA and I've checked on that but still confused on type of corp to become. How much would you charge to help me wade through some of these questions. I imagine you are a very busy person and hate to take up your time but when I saw you serve God and added the fact that you make no bones about your Christianity I had to follow my gut and contact you. Sincerely,

Below is my response:

Thanks for visiting www.HisCPA.com

I would welcome helping you set up your new business entity, which I would suggest to be an S Corporation.

I will send to you under a separate e-mail information on entity selection.

Give me a call after you receive/review and we can discuss.

To get Incorporated as an S Corporation it typically would take an attorney approximately three weeks. You will need to get to them your full legal name, SS#, Phone for business, County in GA, Business address, business name, type of business you would like to use. You might also want to consider trademarking you business name for additonal name protection.

Also please go ahead a mail to me a copy of your last personal return.
