Duluth GA CPA...Are You Building Your Testimony to Share With Others?
While serving on Family Mission Trips, again and again we watch as the power of God is unleashed into the lives of others. This is but one of the many stories we see God glorified. Join us as we seek in unite with others in Taking Christianity Into the World.
My admiration for all of you and all of God's children who choose to serve in similar ways has grown considerably over the last few days. Perhaps, at this point, because how much I envy you all.
I did not allow for a two way relationship with our Heavenly Father until 2003 when I was 46 years old. But in those short 8 years we have been on a fast-track and I can truly say that I have felt Him guiding every single moment, every decision, and every action and reaction in and around my life. In May of 2005 I experienced a significant health issue that brought us even closer. I moved to Georgia in September of 2005, met my wife Betsy in November and we got married in May of 2006. She has been a Christian her entire life and we have so enjoyed our spiritual journey together.
God led us to Sugarloaf Methodist in August of 2010 and we knew great plans were in store for us through the people of this church. Having never been part of a mission trip we were nervous and a bit tentative in the first few weeks of our decision to learn more about the Pueblo Pintado trip. Because of the wonderful people of this group it did not take long to know this was a calling for us and we did all we could to get involved as deeply as we could.
We were very excited about the new relationships we were starting to enjoy and looked forward to the growth of those relationships into wonderful friendships. It is hard not to be disappointed in the fact that God has something else in mind...
My back had been bad for three weeks and on Friday morning July 8th an MRI delivered some relatively bad results. That was only 4 hours before we were due to fly out to Albuquerque. There was not much hesitation, surely He was going to take care of us and allow us to fulfill this part of our spiritual journey. We are confidently convicted in that He did just that, in His way.
I don't remember much about the helicopter ride ( the Navajo have a helicopter. really??) or first getting to the emergency room. I had heard on the TV that morning that this area had not had significant rain in over 200 days and I do remember marveling at the rain falling all over me as they transferred me from the helicopter to the ER. Then I nurse laughingly commented about being sorry they could not turn off the sprinkler system on the lawn where we landed,
The other thing I will remember forever is the handful of you , who for a few hours cared only about my wellness and who even now are deeply concerned that we make it home safely. I see your faces , I feel your hands and I hear your voices, but most importantly I feel your love. The love of God's children.
That will resonate with Betsy and I forever. That along with the tears in my eyes right now will serve as another block in the foundation of our faith and our love for God's people.
God's word, The Bible , has always been very simple for me to understand. It is the ultimate "How to" book for love and compassion. I enjoy deep, passionate discussions about all things including faith and God's word. But for me, these discussions are purely entertainment. At the end of the day, it is God's intent that we learn how to show our love, compassion and concern for everyone we see every day of our lives. He provides so many opportunities for us to do this, you don't have to search. Some take more effort than others. Because of this somewhat unfortunate opportunity the foundation of faith under the feet of Betsy and I is significantly stronger. We are blessed to be part of this group . From the bottom of my heart -- Thank you
