Atlanta CPA Asks: Why Do Bad Things Happen?...Taking Christianity Into the World

Atlanta CPA Asks: Why Do Bad Things Happen?...Taking Christianity Into the World

Since the beginning of time we have all asked the same question...Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People? Though many chose to get stuck on this question I believe the answers are displayed throughout the whole of the Bible from the beginnings in the Old Testament and throughout Jesus life in the New Testament and beyond. Though this is a hotly contested issue on many fronts, for myself, I chose and have to seek God's counsel before challenging our Abba Father.

In the beginning in the Garden of Eden, Adam, in his silence, chose to sin by not following one of the few rules God had laid out for him there. Adam had a grand life, he tended to, not worked, a garden. He had a beautiful wife who was indeed a helpmate and was able to walk and talk daily with God. However Adam in his pride let the serpent deceive both he and Eve, thus inviting sin into otherwise a blessed and wonderful world. As we are all born of Adam's descendants we are therefore all born inherent in his failing. Thus we all are born of pride and often seek our own way, and not that of God's. The Bible teaches us that fear is the beginning to understanding and that we should work out our faith and salvation accordingly. Thus, I believe challenging God on who he is, what he allows to happen is seeking the rebuttal and rebuke of Biblical proportions as thrashed on Job in the Old Testament for his sinful ranting and railings.

Rather than Asking Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People, I Believe We Should Ask....Why Do Good Things Happen to Bad People?

As we all sin and therefore fall short of the Glory of God, we are therefore condemned, and thus deserving death. However God, in the form of Jesus Christ chose to come to the Earth to pay for our sins, to save our souls and to open the path for us to all talk to God.
So Jesus Christ is Why Good Things Happen to Bad People.

In Jeremiah 29:11, we are told that God has plans to prosper us, to give us a hope and a future and not to harm us. He wants the best for us and our lives. Throughout the Bible we are told that there will be tribulations both within the earth and between peoples. History is littered with evil men from the beginning as Cain killed Abel, Hitler during World War II and to the terrorists of 9/11 who were cowards, who lived and threatened others out of fear.

In the book of John in the New Testament, Jesus tells us that he is leaving this world so that He might go and make a way for us and to prepare a mansion, so that when we join Him we might live in Glory along with Him. Imagine a mansion, free and clear of a mortgage, no homeowners dues and no grass to cut. God loves us so much that He wants to give us the very desires of our hearts!

Throughout time, people, countries and civilizations have risen and fallen. Famines, floods and catastrophes of every type have befallen (remember fire falling from the sky on the house of Job, who by even God's own account was a righteous man and just man). No one enjoys challenges but many of us are able through life's challenges to survive, thrive and grow in ways that before, we never imagined. For it is in my struggles that I have learned to grow strong and not my times of relative ease and prosperity. In fact, the greatest country of the world, the USA, was forged out of revolution from tyranny from abroad.

Times of struggle are opportunities for growth and to lean evermore on the power of the Holy Spirit and the promises of Jesus Christ. I thank God everyday for the may blessings I have received from my children, my wife, my brothers and sisters, my job and my church in spite of my many failings. I commit evermore to keep in mind, that God promises to protect and to care for all who accept His Grace and to Believe on Him as their Lord and Savior. I know that I am loved by a God who will lift me up when needed, carry me and will assist me as I walk through life's most troubling times. And it is in this God that alone I place my faith.
