Sometimes it is wise to get a fresh perspective on your investments and see if you can do better than you present portfolio mix. The below is a sample letter I might use to send to my financial adviser to evaluate varying investment options:

Pay particular attention to...

Setting up a flex plan and buying C Shares.

Beta Risks versus other options in the market.

How our present investments compare over the last ten years from Flex Funds to our present investment mix.

Investing in Bonds

Setting up an ETF/Exchange Traded Fund

Buy Individual Stocks who are substantially undervalued

Buying Dividend Paying Stocks

Are our cash reserved adequate

Consolidating retirement accounts to cut down on fees

Though you might have a gifted investment track record, the odds are against you when you plow forward without properly using the vast amount of resources that are at your disposal by solely picking up the phone. It is prudent to seek the referral of a trusted CPA when making the decision to interview a financial adviser. He or she will be better served to both differentiate between having a professional whom is geared towards assisting you. Left alone we are much more apt to fail then if we seek wise and judicious counsel.
