Atlanta CPA Firm Presents Meeting Notes/Minutes for Navajo Family Missions...Taking Christianity Into the World

Atlanta CPA Firm Presents Meeting Notes/Minutes for Navajo Family Missions...Taking Christianity Into the World

For those of you who weren't at the meeting on Sunday, here are a few highlights of what we covered. If you haven't turned in your interest slips, please reply to this e-mail with the info needed.

• Opening prayer and thoughts from John: "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." John 14:12-14 Jesus encourages us in our faith to do even greater things than He did. Imagine it, for a moment, let the thought sink in. The King of the Universe and the Creator of All, Abba Father tells us that we can do great things in His name. We are further encouraged by the Apostle Paul, to be bold in our Faith living up to the destiny and calling on our lives. Each and every one of you who have felt the call to go on this trip has great things that you will each do, as you serve the Navajo people and each other, by being the very hands and feet of Jesus Christ.

• Trip theme: becoming a true part of their culture - learning their ways, their crafts, their ways of worship, etc.
• Introduction of team leaders
• Tommy & Julie will be helping with leading the trip (complaint department :)
• Sports Camp will be merged with Bugs 4 Christ to form "Teen Outreach" to be led by John Dillard, Tommy, Kevin and John (we will be placing a lot of our focus on teen outreach this year)
• Group travel will be offered if we have more than 10 people interested in group travel (which we currently do)
• Handouts: Interest slip, areas of service - we will try and put you where you desire to be but please be flexible as you may not get your first choice
• On March 14th, we will be hosting a "Raising Individual Funds" class that will explore raising individual funds for your mission trip. We will have personal testimonies, support, encouragement and creative ways to raise money to help you pay for your trip. This is open to the entire church.
• We will be working very hard to establish a "worship team" to coordinate with our spiritual leader (John Dillard) and create a morning and evening worship service that will guarantee that we take time out of our busy schedule to reflect, rejoice, refresh.
• If you happen to have a child in Student Life who has been or is going on a mission trip, you know the rules for them to go on the trips - they are required to be at the team meetings. I know most of us are adults on this trip but the rules are the same. Team meetings are essential not only to the planning of the trip, but coming together as a true team and getting to know each other. We have exceptions and will handle those on a one on one basis but PLEASE try and make each meeting. We cover A LOT of material in each meeting and notes can't be sent out after each one.
• Deposits are due March 1st. We have set our team number at 60 people and currently have over 75 interested so please make sure your deposits and forms are in by March 1st.
• We will have encouragement/prayer partners this year. We will draw names next meeting and please keep these names secret - we will reveal them our last night on the reservation. We can discuss further at next meeting.
• In honor of Penny, we will be continuing her book fair this year so please hang on to any books (children, teen, adult) as well as magazines (that are appropriate) ;)
• Prayer squares - these will be presented to us as we near departure, please hang on to these and they will be collected to make a blanket.
• Please add service projects to the areas of interest as we need a leader who will take this on and work with Nathan to determine projects.
• The attachment to this e-mail is an interest slip and areas of service. If you haven't turned yours in yet, please look over the areas that you think would be of interest to you and reply to my e-mail with the following information: Your first, second and third interest choices, your t-shirt size and whether or not you are interested in group travel plus any other information that you think would be helpful (musician, artist, cook, etc.) (I need separate information for each member of your family.
• Upcoming dates: March 4-6 Centering Prayer (information sent out earlier)
March 14th at 4:00 - Raising Individual Funds for your mission trip
March 21st - Team meeting Town Hall after 2nd service
This is going to be an awesome trip for all of us but it does require a lot of planning, flexibility, patience and understanding. Please keep this trip, the team members and you and your family in deep prayer as we move forward in preparing for this trip.
