Atlanta CPA on Family Mission Team Members Fulfilling the Great Commission
Encouraging Believers to Speak Boldly...Taking Christianity Into the World
We leave for our Family Mission Trip is just a few days. We are still heavily involved in Missions while Serving our Native Americans the Navajo on the desert of New Mexico. One of the cooler things we are doing this year is that we are looking to mentor young men and women in their walk with Christ, while teaching them how to restore Volkswagen Beetles. We also model for them Christ’s unconditional love by giving these vehicles to those in need. www.Bugs4Christ.webs.com Take a peek at our video at http://bit.ly/QS0V9 If you listen and watch with an open heart, it will change your world. As our team members get ready for the tip, Satan will do everything he can to derail your efforts and to put doubts in your mind, especially when it comes to speaking God's word. Though many of us are not afraid to act on His behalf, all of us are called to speak on His behalf, bring the Good News of Jesus Christ into a fallen world. The below is a sample letter we might receive as we ready for the trip:
Thanks for the encouragement. I had the opportunity to meet and speak with one our mission team members tonight and found out that they were not responding as they were not sure they wanted to participate as they thought they would each have to get up and give a testimony. I assured her that was not the case that is why we needed to get together and decide what we want to put together, a reading of scripture by each of us; a skit that incorporates a message from God to the group or even a musical. So I think I have them convinced for them to try and we are going to schedule a time next week in the evening to get with them and decide. I told them that I would confirm with you that they would not have to give their testimony but we would do something as a family, so with that said could you send me an email and perhaps copy them clarifying what option we have other than a testimony I think that would help get them out of their shell. They seemed to be really terrified at the thought but by the end of the dinner she seemed a little more at ease. Thanks and God Bless.
Below is my response:
For the Devotions we are looking for families/groups to do whatever they would like in terms of reading verses or sharing. When I do lead a Devotion I am least comfortable sharing my testimony but I am most comfortable sharing what verses in the Bible have meaning to me, what they have done to encourage and support me in my life and what God is doing to and through me. It was a message that was near and dear to my heart. I believe we are most impactful to others when we share what is most impactful to us. God calls us all to not just hear the word but to live it out and to tell others.
Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
For the first trip I went on...I am a romantic at heart...so I read and talked about the value of a wife from Old Testament...Song of Solomon as it had numerous verses that spoke to my heart and gave me guidance and hope. This year's Mission Trip to serve our Native Americans: the Navajo we are asking all team members to be ready to lead a devotion, just as God calls us all to tell others. I am excited about what God is doing to and through you as you ready for this trip. Expect Great Things.
Dare to Attempt Something so Great for the Kingdom of God that it is doomed to failure, lest Christ be in it!
Psalm 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
