The below is a sample letter we might send to a prospective client seeking to retain a new CPA. Be sure your CPA works hard to earn your business, keep your tax bill as low as legally possible and to turn around your tax returns on a timely efficient basis:

Please be reminded that IRS Form's 1099 are required to be issued to independent contractors by January 31st of the following year and then to the IRS by the end of February of the following year.

Accordingly if you have not yet issued those for 2010 they are now several months late. I would be happy to show you how to do those for 2010 and then you can use your payroll service to do them on a timely basis in the future.
