Generally, Christian congregation members dress up for church, wearing at least business casual attire out of respect for the religion and other congregation members. But how important is dress to your faith, really? Would God care if you came to church in sloppy casual attire? Does dressing comfortably, rather than fancifully mean that your faith isn’t strong, or that you’re somehow less invested than your peers?
What the Bible Says About Dress
Let’s start with the primary source to see if there are firm “rules” for what people should wear, both to church and in general society. What does the Bible say about dress?
In the Old Testament, there are a few explicit rules mentioned: cross-dressing is not permitted, and wearing clothes made of wool and linen in combination is forbidden (though it’s not entirely clear why this was ever important). The New Testament does state that the rules of the Old Testament don’t need to be strictly followed, however.
In the New Testament, there are a handful of specific requirements for both men and women, but clothing in the age of the New Testament was far different from modern society; we generally don’t have to think about or follow the rules for things like cloaks, tunics, veils, and turbans. Other than that, the biggest general concept related to dress that’s discussed is “modesty”—and for women, in particular. FULL POST

Christian tradition suggests that Christians should attend church services regularly, preferably at least once a week on Sunday. But for millions of Christians, going to church is more of a chore than an enlightening experience, and some go purely to maintain the tradition, rather than to enjoy some spiritual benefit.
Still, millions of Christian leaders insist that attending church service—as regularly as possible—is vitally important to your faith and your salvation. So just how important is going to church every week, really?

It is no secret that relations between China and Japan are struggling. The two countries have a long history of conflict and it seems as if these historic disputes will continue to hinder relations into the foreseeable future. Many experts have debated on what can be done to help improve relations between China and Japan. Out of all the ways that have been suggested, it seems as if one other major country could play a vital role in improving relations between these the two countries.
The United States has a huge influence on the political dynamics of the world. Most importantly, it is seen as an ally to both China and Japan. With a long history of economic and political ties to each respective country, it is one of the few countries that has the power to be heard and complied with.
As two of the most powerful economies in the world, the United States and China have created a long and prosperous partnership. The two countries share many of the same political, economic and security interests. However, the partnership has been marked with several conflicts. In fact, the two are often simultaneously seen as allies and political adversaries. As the Trump administration begins its revisions on foreign policy, relations between the United States and China have become even more strained. However, the partnership holds the most promise towards providing stability to the Asian FULL POST

For older generations, it can often be disheartening to see Millennials and younger generations fall away from their Christian faith due to outside influences in the world. From music videos to television shows, the media has managed to cause younger adults to stray from their faith over time. Although it can be difficult to stay faithful to God and focus on Him in a busy and chaotic culture, there are a few ways to stay on track and walk close to the Lord.
One of the most common ways that the enemy likes to lead Christians astray from their faith is through distractions. Distractions keep us overly busy and make it difficult for us to find time to attend church or read the Word of God. It's important to recognize certain distractions that may be taking you away from your relationship with the Lord. Social media seems to be one of the main culprits and have caused both young adult and older adults to spend several hours each day scrolling through feeds and posts. Consider deleting your accounts or setting rules for yourself to avoid wasting precious time. Set a timer to ensure that you don't get distracted and can disconnect. FULL POST

A fierce debate is now growing among Christians as to whether medical marijuana should be used as an alternative to traditional medicine. In one corner, some Christians are even using Bible passages to prove their point. Others are categorically against marijuana and still view it as a drug. This is causing growing concerns about the usage of medical marijuana within Christianity, a debate that has even reached its highest office in the Vatican.
This debate is brewing at a time when New York residents are pushing Governor Cuomo to relax the laws on medical marijuana to allow its residents suffering from PTSD to use the drug as a treatment.
New York Veterans are Making a Push for Legalization
Many groups supporting veterans have been asking for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder to be added to the list of ailments medical marijuana can be prescribed for. However, it is still unclear whether governor Cuomo will be in favor of the legislation. The State senate recently pronounced itself in favor of the bill, shortly after the house of representatives did the same. FULL POST

Most of us don’t particularly like thinking about life insurance. Naturally, facing the prospect of our mortality is less-than-comfortable. Yet, having a life insurance plan is simply a responsible choice, a way for you to provide for your loved ones in the event of your death.
As you consider financial planning and planning for your future, life insurance may be an important piece of your and your family’s financial plan. Although there are certainly some drawbacks to purchasing life insurance, there are many benefits that are simply not available from other financial instruments. Some of these benefits are obvious, some less so.
The Advantages of Life Insurance
The most obvious benefit, as you are probably aware, is that in the event of the insured’s death, life insurance provides an infusion of cash to named beneficiaries. The theory is that if beneficiaries—generally a spouse or children—are negatively affected financially by the insured’s passing, life insurance will mitigate the financial effects, at least to some degree. To put it bluntly, if you pass unexpectedly, of course, your family will grieve, but at least they won’t have the burden of worrying about how to make the next mortgage payment. FULL POST

As a Christian, you have every right to be grateful for who you are – especially knowing who you could be. But would others say that gratefulness exudes from your daily attitude? If not, then you could be hurting your witness and mitigating the impact you have on those around you.
Gratefulness and Your Witness
As you try to live a life that’s reflective of Jesus and what he has done for you, it’s impossible for you to do anything other than be grateful. To be ungrateful is essentially to tell others that God hasn’t done enough for you to be happy. What does that tell others? Even if you don’t intend for it to turn people away, it does. Remember, they’re looking for something to grab on to – something that’s true and stable. If you’re ungrateful, then they’re going to assume that this sort of attitude is indicative of Christianity and will seek something else instead. FULL POST

Once you are joined in holy matrimony, the Bible clearly states “what God has joined together, let no one separate.” However, things could become a bit tricky at bedtime since sleeping in the same bed may become a problem initially. If you are planning to get betrothed anytime soon, it might be worth taking a note of the following problems that newly married couples often experience while sleeping together, and why online mattress companies have the solution.
The most common problem is a snoring husband/wife. Invest in a bigger king size mattress so that he/she can shift during sleeping, as it has been proven that a different sleeping position often helps. Also, buy some special pillows to assist.
Tossing and Turning
Tossing and turning can be a normal sleeping habit for your partner but it will cause you to lose sleep. Opt for a bigger bed to allow him/her the freedom to move around and make sure that it’s a foam bed with low motion transfer. Alternatively, you can also buy a good quality mattress topper. FULL POST

There was a time in our history that churches were the targets of thieves because of the money, works of art and other treasures which were housed in churches, synagogues and other religious places of worship. But those days are long gone. Today, churches are targeted for much more nefarious reasons which are much more difficult to foresee timely enough to avoid. Many of these problems facing today’s places of worship can be prevented with a good security system for the grounds and internet security for the office computers.
Looting Still a Very Real Issue
This is not to say that looting is not still a very real issue, because it very much is so. However, now many churches no longer house valuable artifacts and golden treasures which are typically held in Rome within the Roman Catholic Church and few Protestant churches believe in such treasures as being of any value to the faith.
