A God of inches and seconds saved couple in freeway plane crash

Defy Media
Fireball on the 405 Freeway next to John Wayne Airport June 30, 2017 after the Pisano's plane crashed

By Mark Ellis

Shortly after takeoff from John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California, pilot Frank Pisano heard a sputtering sound in his right engine. Then the engine went dead. His wife Janan was sitting next to him and didn’t hear the sound through her headphones, but she heard his anguished cry to air traffic controllers: “Mayday!”

In their brief, four-minute flight, and the horrific fireball that consumed the plane after they crashed on the 405 Freeway, God displayed his awesome power to save their lives in a cascading series of intricately timed and perfectly sequenced miracles.

They took off at 9:30 a.m. on Friday June 30, 2017, the start of an extended Fourth of July holiday for many other travelers plying the busy freeway situated next to the airport. The Pisanos intended to fly to Scottsdale for a three-day vacation. FULL POST

God miraculously healed him of Lyme disease

Dominic Sputo

By Mark Ellis

He was a young deadbeat dad with multiple DUIs and a mountain of credit card debt. But God saw fit to save him and ultimately perform a huge medical miracle after a significant course correction on his spiritual path.

“I had a really depraved background,” confesses Dominic Sputo, the founder of Mute No More. “I had never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I had never read the Bible.”

On his last day of college, he discovered he had a three-year-old daughter. He knew the child was his, but decided to flee from his fatherly responsibilities.

He landed a decent white-collar job after graduation. At the same time, however, he nurtured a drug and alcohol problem that got more severe with time.

“After five years of running away from her my life was a train wreck,” he admits. At 28-years-old, he had multiple DUIs and the installment payments on his credit card were more than his monthly paycheck. FULL POST

The unusual Bible correlations to ‘The Great American Eclipse’

By Mark Ellis

Bible statisticians can often produce a dizzying array of facts and figures which they attempt to link to prophetic events. The great American eclipse of 2017 is no exception, with number crunchers working overtime to produce some highly unusual connections with the Scripture.

Because the United States is in such a turbulent political season, with existential threats rising around the world, some will wonder if the solar eclipse portends some dramatic event in the offing.

Immediately prior to the return of the Lord, the Book of Luke notes, “There shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring.” (Luke 21:25)

The August 21st eclipse will be the first total solar eclipse whose path of totality stays completely within the United States since the nation’s founding in 1776, according to Space.com. FULL POST

Father of woman killed in Charlottesville urges forgiveness because of Jesus

By Mark Ellis

An entire nation was saddened by the tragic death of three people caught up in the violent rally of white supremacists in Charlottesville August 12th. One victim’s father, a strong Christian, is urging forgiveness – based on what Jesus did on the cross.

His daughter, Heather Heyer, 32, was plowed down by a car driven by James Alex Fields, Jr. Fields was arraigned on second degree murder charges yesterday and apparently was a Nazi sympathizer.

Heather was known for her compassion and kindness. She stood up for equality, and paid the ultimate price with her life.

On August 14th, Mark Heyer spoke out about the incident in a video interview with Florida Today.

“My daughter was a strong woman that had passionate opinions about the equality of everyone- and she tried to stand up for that. With her, it wasn’t lip service. It was real.”

In extending forgiveness to her killer, his response may surprise some. “People need to stop hating, and they need to forgive each other. And I include myself in that, in forgiving the guy that did this. He doesn’t know no better. You know, I just think of what the Lord said on the cross. ‘Lord forgive him, they don’t know what they are doing.’” FULL POST

ISIS ‘biter’ tortured woman because of her soap fragrance

Former ISIS detention facility

By Mark Ellis —

Warning: the following contains disturbing descriptions of torture.

A chilling academic study of the ISIS prison system released August 10th exposes the horrific psychological and physical tortures inflicted by the terror organization in their enforcement of sharia law.

“The ISIS Prison System: Its Structure, Departmental Affiliations, Processes, Conditions, and Practices of Psychological and Physical Torture” by Asaad Almohammad, Ph.D., Anne Speckhard, Ph.D., & Ahmet S. Yayla, Ph.D. was based on interviews with 55 ISIS fighters and 17 Syrian civilians detained by ISIS.

The study was released by the International Center for the Study of Violent Extremism (ICSVE).

The authors found psychological torture that included the threat of execution, solitary confinement, and the placement of severed heads in cages in which detainees are being held.

One female defector who had served with the morality police said, “We would imprison women in the cemetery with skeletons, in a cage in the middle of the cemetery as a punishment. Most of the time when we went back to the cage in the morning, the woman was crazy.” FULL POST

ISIS stole Bibles from monasteries, now they’re on the black market

Byzantine Bible offered for sale

By Mark Ellis

Antiquities plundered by ISIS — including ancient Bibles — have made their way from Syria and Iraq to Western collectors, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.

The Journal interviewed Syrian art traders, recent ISIS defectors involved with the artifacts, and law-enforcement officials in the U.S., France, Switzerland, and Bulgaria to draw a profile of the smuggling operation and its inner workings.

The valuable objects make their way from sites in Iraq and Syria, cross borders into Turkey and Lebanon, and finally are deposited in warehouses in Europe and Asia where they will be sold to dealers in the West.

Muhammad Al-Hassan, a 28-year-old Syrian, began trading antiquities in 2015 after being contacted by a top official of ISIS who sought his help to find Western buyers. Before the civil war, he was an English-language student who studied archaeology in his free time. The official asked him to find European buyers. FULL POST

Seven Christians and two pet parrots escape from ISIS-held Raqqa

Sawsan Karapetyan

By Mark Ellis

Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) rescued seven Christians from ISIS-held Raqqa on August 8th – along with two pet parrots.

The SDF saved the two Armenian Christian families from the city ISIS claimed as the capital of its “caliphate,” according to a report by AFP News Agency.

As some of the few Christians remaining in Raqqa, Sawsan Karapetyan, 45, and her family overcame their fears by faith.

At 3 am on the 8th, she and six other family members fled the city on foot.

They were rescued by Christian fighters involved in the battle to expel ISIS from Raqqa and taken to a nearby city in the back of a truck.

“I didn’t want to leave, but there was so much bombardment around us that we fled,” said Karapetyan, still dressed in the black robes she was forced to wear by ISIS.

They left with almost nothing. But there were three things she could not leave behind: her rosary, and her pet parrots, “Lover” and “Beloved”. FULL POST

The faith of Glen Campbell, the prodigal singing star rescued from his demons

Glen Campbell

By Mark Ellis

Glen Campbell, the acclaimed pop-country singer, songwriter, and musician, who sold more than 45 million records and won four Grammys, passed to his reward August 8th due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease. He was 81.

During the height of his career he hosted The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour on CBS television, from 1969 to 1972. He amassed 12 gold albums, four platinum albums, and one double-platinum album.

He is best known for hits that include “Gentle on My Mind”, “By the Time I Get to Phoenix”, “Wichita Lineman”, “Galveston”, “Rhinestone Cowboy”, and “Southern Nights”.

“I’m not a country singer per se, I’m a country boy who sings,” Campbell once told an interviewer.

He also had a turbulent personal life with three failed marriages, partly due to his battle with alcohol and cocaine addiction.

He was a farm boy who grew up in Billstown, Arkansas, the son of a sharecropper named after Christian historical giant John Wesley. Glen was the seventh of 12 children.

Campbell started playing guitar at four-years-old after his uncle Boo bought him a five-dollar guitar from Sears. He practiced guitar when he wasn’t working in the cotton fields. FULL POST

Gog & Magog? Russia building military base near Israel’s border

Russian soldiers in Syria

By Mark Ellis

Russian military forces have replaced the Syrian regime’s military presence in southern Syria, and have built a base in the area, according to a report by the Jewish News Service.

The unsettling development reveals that Russia plans to create a more permanent military presence near Israel’s northern border, setting the stage for the potential fulfillment of Bible prophecies.

The Russian build-up near Israel comes after the implementation of a Syrian cease-fire agreement brokered by the U.S. and Russia in July.

Many students of Bible prophecy believe that Russia will lead an attack against Israel with other nations in the “latter days” mentioned in Ezekial 38.

At the beginning of Ezekial 38 a vast army is identified that includes: “Gog of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal…Persia, Ethiopia and Put…Gomer with all its troops; Beth-togarmah from the remote parts of the north.”

Many interpreters identify these with the modern nations of Russia, Iran, Ethiopia, Libya, and other Slavic people to the north of Israel.

Ezekial 38:14-16 states: Therefore prophesy, son of man, and say to Gog, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “On that day when My people Israel are living securely, will you not know it? You will come from your place out of the remote parts of the north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great assembly and a mighty army; and you will come up against My people Israel like a cloud to cover the land. It shall come about in the last days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me when I am sanctified through you before their eyes, O Gog. FULL POST

L.A. Times uses front page ‘hit piece’ to attack pastor leading WH Bible study

Trump cabinet gathers for prayer after Gorsuch nomination

By Mark Ellis

President Donald Trump’s cabinet members have been gathering weekly for prayer and Bible study sessions, which seems to infuriate media elites at the L.A. Times, who recently launched a venomous attack against the man leading the studies.

Ralph Drollinger, the founder of Capitol Ministries, initiated the Bible study during President Trump’s transition to the White House and continues to lead the group.

At 7’1”, Drollinger once played under legendary Coach John Wooden at UCLA and was the first player to go to four NCAA Final-Four Tournaments. Wooden famously coached his players to exhibit “grace under pressure,” something Drollinger may need in abundance to withstand the fiery darts of enraged secular critics.

Attendees at the study have included Vice President Pence; Secretaries Betsy DeVos, Ben Carson, Sonny Perdue, Rick Perry, Tom Price and Jeff Sessions; EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt and CIA Director Mike Pompeo.

They are some of the most powerful people in the U.S. government, something that agitates critics of the administration.

The writer of the L.A. Times story claimed to be in “shock” because Drollinger “once counseled a group of Sacramento lawmakers that female politicians with young children have no business serving in the Legislature. In fact, he called them sinners.” FULL POST
