Unemployed coal miner who confronted Clinton to run for Senate against Joe Manchin

Bo Copley

By Mark Ellis

Bo Copley, the unemployed coal miner who gained national attention after he challenged Secretary Clinton’s statements about the coal industry, is also a strong Christian who was at the heart of the revival that swept West Virginia.

He prayed and fasted before meeting Mrs. Clinton, then invited her to attend a revival meeting that night only a short distance away from their encounter on May 2, 2016.

Now he’s stirred up the political establishment by throwing his hat into the ring as a Republican running against Democratic Senator Joe Manchin. He declared his candidacy for the U.S. Senate exactly one year to the day after his meeting with Hillary Clinton.

“I prayed and labored for some time about whether or not we should attempt this,” he says. “I have some very established and high profile politicians that I will face in the primary, but we know that God goes before us into battle.”

Copley and his wife, Lauren, made the decision together. “I felt in my heart He was telling me to pray with Lauren, TOGETHER. We view marriage as a covenant relationship, and I know that He wouldn’t send me somewhere without her being onboard, or at least revealing to her the same goal,” he says. FULL POST

Myanmar: Pastor casts demons out of chief’s son, Buddhist village comes to Christ

Myanmar village

Dano was raised in a Christian home by parents who formerly practiced animism. After his father died, Dano turned to God and accepted Jesus as his Savior.

As a young man, Dano enlisted in the military and had combat experience on the frontlines fighting Chinese rebels. “Our enemies ambushed us, they shot us and landmines exploded.” Dano reported in a story by Open Doors.

He narrowly escaped the ambush. “I was positioned on the frontline, there was one experienced soldier before me and another behind me. The soldiers in front of me and behind me were killed by the explosion of the landmines. I found out that 120 soldiers died.”

Dano believes his life was spared for a reason. “I believe God preserved my life from death on the battlefield for a purpose—because it is written in the Bible that God protects those whom He has chosen. I believe God has chosen me to do his work and serve his people,” he told Open Doors.

After eight years of service, Dano left the military and obtained a license to operate a timber business and began to earn his livelihood exporting timber to Thailand.

One day he had a surprising vision. “I was shown a vine full of grapes, fully ripe and waiting to be plucked. A heavenly angel asked me to pluck the grapes and eat them. If I didn’t pluck he would send someone else.” FULL POST

Finland: Hundreds of Muslim refugees converting to Christianity

By Mark Ellis

Muslim asylum seekers from the Middle East are converting to Christianity by the hundreds, according to Evangelical Lutheran church leaders.

A church in eastern Finland is conducting classes for the new believers from Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq, according to a report by the Finnish news organization Uutiset.

Conservative estimates of the number of exiles who have renounced Islam for Christianity is several hundred in the last few years, Marja-Liisa Laihia, an administrator for the Evangelical Lutheran Church, told Uutiset.

About 20 young Afghani men are currently involved in pre-confirmation teaching at a church in Imatra, Eastern Finland. They have been provided copies of the New Testament in the Dari language, their heart language. They are instructed in English, with a Dari interpreter helping via Skype.

Training for the new converts began a year ago, following the establishment of a reception center for the refugees in Imatra.

“Asylum seekers began attending our services so we reacted by starting up the lessons,” pastor Vesa Julin told Uutiset.

One of the first questions by many of the new converts is about baptism. “I haven’t been baptized yet, but I’m looking forward to it and I’m sure I will be a good Christian,” Aliraza Hussaini said. FULL POST

Heavy metal singer stands up for Jesus, loses fans

By Mark Ellis

A former heavy metal singer from Of Mice & Men, Austin Carlile, has made some bold expressions about his faith recently, and also paid a price for it.

In a July 24th Tweet, he acknowledged the cost: “I LOSE followers any time I speak about God or His son Jesus, ppl don’t wanna hear it. What I GAIN from knowing Him though… irreplaceable.”

“It may not be ‘cool’ to believe, it may not be popular, but the GOD of the entire universe loves you. Realizing this changed my entire life,” he noted in a report by CBN.

The musician was diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome, a genetic disease that affects the body’s connective tissue. When the aorta valve is affected, the disorder may be fatal, which happened to Flo Hyman, the Olympic silver-medalist in volleyball, who collapsed and died at age 31.

The disease is associated with people who have long legs and arms. Some believe President Lincoln may suffered from the disorder, but the theory has never been proven.

Carlile continues to praise God as he battles the insidious disease. Treatment usually involves beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, ACE inhibitors, and sometimes surgery, according to Wikipedia. FULL POST

God used fighting between two villages to bring salvation

By Mark Ellis

Imie and Amy Mark consider themselves “expendable for the King” in their service as missionaries in Papua New Guinea with Ethnos360.

Amy, and their two youngest children, had the opportunity to spend part of their spring break in North Wahgi visiting another of the missionary families affiliated with Ethnos360 ministering among the people there.

During their visit, they learned about recent fighting that had broken out between two neighboring villages. Sadly, hostilities began over a refusal to lend less than $2 and escalated into an all-out battle between the villages, Imie recounts on their blog.

To escape the fighting, some people in one of the villages came to stay with the missionary family Amy was visiting. While they were there, they were invited to hear the Foundational Bible Teaching (where they teach through Creation to Christ to present the gospel in the full context of the whole of Scripture).

The power of the Word and the Spirit touched several who were there. “Two of these men believed and became new brothers in Christ!” Imie reports.

“They went back to their village and told their families and others that they needed to hear this teaching because it is unlike anything they had ever heard.” FULL POST

Blood nanoparticles on Shroud of Turin reveal victim suffered torture

By Mark Ellis

Blood nanoparticles – rather than pigments associated with paint – discovered by researchers studying the Shroud of Turin reveal the victim suffered severe trauma consistent with torture.

The researchers in Italy used new techniques in electron microscopy to find the blood nanoparticles, according to CBN.

“The Blood serum tells us that before dying the person was suffering,” Dr. Elvio Carlino told CBN. Since 2001, Dr. Carlino has been the scientific director of Triest’s TASC IMO-CNR Microscopy Center.

“This means that the Turin Shroud is not fake… It is certainly the funeral fabric that wrapped a tortured man,” he said.

Dr. Carlino, along with L. De Caro, C. Giannini, and Giulio Fanti are the authors of the study: Atomic resolution studies detect new biologic evidences on the Turin Shroud, published June 30, 2017.

The Shroud of Turin is a handmade linen cloth, 4.4 meters long and 1.1 meter wide, revealing a double image of the dead body of a scourged, thorn-crowned man who was stabbed in the side and crucified.

Many Christians believe it was the burial cloth of Jesus. Others think that it is a fake. However, the image on the Shroud has not been adequately explained or reproduced by scientists. FULL POST

North Korean government agent spied on Christians, accepted Jesus on his deathbed

By Mark Ellis

Her parents were secret Christians in a society where any public expression of faith leads to imprisonment and possibly death. When she stumbled on their closely held secret as a young girl, she almost turned her own parents into the authorities.

“Like so many Christian families, our family was banished in the 1950s to a remote village,” Kim Sang-Hwa* told Open Doors. “They continued to hide their faith from the outside world.”

Their house was very small, and they all slept in the same room. When she was six-years-old, she woke up earlier than usual one morning. “When I opened my eyes, I saw my father and mother under the blanket and I could hear the soft noise of the radio. Later I learned they were listening to a broadcast from a Christian radio station,” she recounted.

A few years later she made an even more dramatic discovery. “When I was 12, I accidentally found a Bible my parents had hidden in their closet. I don’t know why, but I started to feel inside the cabinet with my hand, pulled out a book and began to read.”

Because of her schoolteachers’ indoctrination, she realized her discovery was dangerous and she was obligated to tell her teachers about the illegal book. FULL POST

Jim Carrey: Christ’s suffering on the cross opens the gates of heaven

By Mark Ellis

His high-energy comedic impressions approach the level of genius and have gained him a worldwide following, ever since he starred in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Dumb and Dumber in 1994.

Carrey’s spiritual journey has taken him in many directions, but at a recent visit to a charity helping the poor in Los Angeles, he made explicit references to Christ’s suffering on the cross that may signal a shift in his thinking.

Born in Ontario, Canada, Carrey was raised Roman Catholic by parents with French Canadian ancestry. He dabbled in Presbyterianism later in life, but also told Oprah Winfrey in 1997 that he is an advocate for the law of attraction.

He told Oprah that early in his career he used visualization techniques to get work. He imagined a $10,000,000 check given to him for his acting service and seven years later received a check in that exact amount for his role in Dumb and Dumber.

Carrey remains an ardent proponent of Transcendental Meditation, and seems to credit the practice for helping him to overcome depression and remove himself from Prozac and all other drugs, including coffee.

In 2010, he told 60 Minutes, “I’m a Buddhist, I’m a Christian, I’m a Muslim, I’m whatever you want me to be. It all comes down to the same thing. You’re in a loving place or you’re in an unloving place, if you’re with me right now you cannot be unhappy, it’s not possible.” FULL POST

Thousands of kids to attend ‘summer camp for jihadis’ run by terror groups

By Mark Ellis

Nearly 120,000 Palestinian kids will attend summer camps run by Hamas in Gaza according to Breitbart, citing figures supplied by the terrorist organization.

Thousands more will attend camps run by Islamic Jihad and other jihadist factions.

The children receive weapons and military training – including live shooting exercises — in addition to propaganda inciting hatred toward Jews.

Graduation ceremonies will allow the children to display their “skills” in front of Hamas officials, according to Breitbart.

“The movement strives, through the summer camps, to train an entire generation to work for the liberation of Palestine,” Usama Almuzeyni, a Hamas official, stated.

The theme chosen for this year’s summer camp is “To Jerusalem We Come.” Almuzeyni said this will “make it clear that Hamas faces one direction, and that is Jerusalem and occupied Palestine.”

According to Amuzeyni, camp activities this summer will include “cultural activities, sports and security” and teaching about “moderate” Islam.

Former ISIS teen fighter says its better to eat dirt than join ISIS

By Mark Ellis

After ISIS took over his territory in Syria, 17-year-old Ibn Mesud* joined the Cubs of the Caliphate and was heavily pressured into taking a suicide mission — told his death would be painless and he would go straight to paradise.

A shocking new video, “The Glorious Martyrs of the Islamic State,” is based on an interview with Mesud in Turkey by the International Center for the Study of Violent Extremism (ICSVE).

“They took over our area,” Mesud recounts on the video. “They called for everyone to come to the mosques. They taught us about the Koran, about prayers and preached to us.”

Mesud admits he “was just a child…just a student.”

The ISIS fighters indoctrinated him and about 1500 other Syrian teens and pre-teens about ISIS, its “accomplishments” in Iraq, and about ISIS being “righteous.”

“We will take you to fight with us,” they told their young recruits.

Mesud’s father is disabled and unable to work. Faced with the prospect of quitting school to financially support his brothers and sisters, he decided to accept the money offered to join ISIS. FULL POST
