In Judaism the number 70 is one of the most important numbers. There are 70 nations of the world that should come to Jerusalem at the end of the days. Also you can find that the city itself has 70 different names in the Jewish tradition.
In Psalms 48, we can find some have the names of this beautiful city , as written:
"Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King"(Psalms 48:2-4)
The psalmist here wanted to describe the city as a place that you must visit, the most beautiful place in the planet, the mount of Zion, the place that had the best landscape.
For me, Jerusalem was always the place that you can't avoid from. Before I met my wife and came to learn in the Hebrew University I was really excited to visit the city, whenever I had a chance. Until today, when I enter the city, I can still feel the different air, the smell and colors of this city. The beginning of Psalms 48 can share with you some the feelings that I felt and still do feel.
