What we need to do in the Promised Land?
When Abram was commanded by G-d to the Promised Land, we all wondered what there's to see in this land of Cannan in those days and Israel nowadays?
Well, dear friends, the journey to Israel in those days wasn’t a peace of cake. Abram needed to leave his family in order to come alone to this land, with Sarai and Lot, as written in Genesis 12:4-5-
"So Abram went forth as the Lord had spoken to him; and Lot went with him. Now Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his nephew, and all their possessions which they had accumulated, and the persons which they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan; thus they came to the land of Canaan"
At the age of 75, after he spent most of his mature life in one land, he now had to go to another land. However, the first days in the land that was promised to him weren't so good. The famine and the hunger caused our first father to continue south-west to Egypt.
The Promised Land was discovered to him in the next chapter when G-d said to him:
" The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, “ Now lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward; for all the land which you see, I will give it to you and to your descendants forever. I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth, so that if anyone can number the dust of the earth, then your descendants can also be numbered. Arise, walk about the land through its length and breadth; for I will give it to you.”(Genesis 13:14-17)
In the Promised land we need to go, to observe, to travel, to walk, to smell, to hear the voices of this land. You are all welcomed, dear friends! And if you can’t do it now, listen to this beautiful song that will try to show you what happens when you are walking on this land!
Have a great week, Eli
