Michelle Duggar, mother and wife for the Duggar brood and star of TLC's reality show "19 Kids and Counting," got a new hairdo for her 46th birthday, reports the Examiner. Mrs. Duggar is well know for her long, curly hair and big fluffy bangs. Her hair has often been referred to as a mullet. She has sported this style for most of adult life according to Examiner.
The online publication reports she now wears a mid-length bob. Her daughters are responsible for the change. They convinced her to let her friend shorten her locks and give her a simple blow-out after conducting a friendly ambush.
Duggard had a mixed reaction to make over.
"My back was to the mirror and I didn’t know how much I got taken off. It was too funny when I realized how much was gone! And it felt so light." she told People magazine.
Duggard said she preferred her long hair because her husband Jim Bob likes the look.
"I know Jim Bob likes it long and I am trying to impress him — what he likes is what I want," she told People. "I think he was a little shocked at first, it was so straight and so different. But he does like it. I think I shocked everyone at the [birthday] party. They were very surprised."
The Duggar family supprised their mom with a 24-hour birthday surpise. Season 6 snippets revealed the suprise included breakfast in bed served by her sons, a party and a very special gift: a trip to Japan and China.
“I enjoyed the fact that my whole family and my girls came up with this amazing way of showing how much they loved me with a 24-hour birthday surprise,” she said.
