According The Sun, Keith Hudson, father to pop singer Katy Perry, refers to the "I Kissed a Girl" singer as a "Devil child" and asks congregations to pray for her.
The newspaper reported that Hudson, head of Keith Hudson Ministries with wife Mary, is saddened because the fans who follow his daughter are worshipping her and not God.
The publication quoted him as saying "They ask how can I preach if I produce [sic] a girl who sang about kissing another girl?
“I was at a concert of Katy’s where there were 20,000. I’m watching this generation and they were going at it. It almost looked like church.
“I stood there and wept and kept on weeping and weeping. They’re loving and worshipping the wrong thing.”
On Facebook, the Hudsons shared that they been working in Christian ministry for over thirty years. Katy Perry was reportedly part of their ministry as a gospel singer until she chose to go mainstream.
The CP Blog staff did not find the sermon The Sun quoted. However in a seperate sermon posted on the Keith Hudson Ministries website, the Pentacostal minister taught parents of backslidden children not give up on them.
"Let me say something to you parents, don't close the door on your children. There's a lot of church folks they get this attitude, 'Bless God, if they ain't going to serve the Lord, they're just out and I don't care. Just let them sow their wild oats.' No, never close the door on your own children even though what they have done you might not approved of it," he instructed.
Hudson also bid the congregation to pray for their children's favorite singers and entertainers: "You might not like some of the things you see or hear but pray for them. You'd surprised but a lot of them have come out of the church."
