Florida's GOP superstar Rep. Marco Rubio tweeted a prayer after learning that Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera and her entourage died in a plane crash Sunday.
Rubio, a Cuban-American, tweeted, "May God grant his peace to her 3 children (sic) & all who loved her."
The plane Rivera, 43, and her lawyer, make-up artist, publicist and flight crew were traveling on disappeared from sight shortly after take off Sunday morning. Later Rivera's California driver's license was discovered near plane wreckage just outside of Mexico City. According the Associated Press, Rivera has been confirmed dead.
Rivera, also known as “La Diva de la Banda” was award-winning Banda singer. Banda singers perform traditional Hispanic music which typically features brass instruments. The thrice divorced mother of five sang about her experiences with love, betrayal and domestic abuse.
She was also a celebrity judge of the Latin TV show The Voice Of Mexico. Before her death, Rivera performed a concert in Monterrey and held a press conference for her recent divorce from former Major League Baseball pitcher Esteban Loaiza.
She is survived by her children and two grandchildren.
