Since the announcement of the Obamacare mandate forcing employers to cover abortion pills and other birth control in their employee insurance plans, some have claimed that corporations aren't individuals and therefore aren't candidates for conscience protections.
But family businesses are simply groups of people acting together. The attempt to characterize them otherwise is detached from reality. Proponents of Obamacare are hoping you will buy into their false view of what a corporation truly - and legally - is.
The mandate's defenders argue that family businesses can't win their lawsuits against Obamacare's mandate because they can't freely "exercise religion." This argument would include my clients, the Hahns, who operate Conestoga Wood Specialties in Lancaster County, and who received a ruling against them Wednesday by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
