3 Solutions to Negative Cultural Influences

Today’s culture tends to negatively influence our teens. Here are three practical solutions.

What Your Teen Wears

How your teen dresses is important. An example, is paying more for name brands.

I know a young man who once boasted about all the money he had in his car’s fancy wheels and expensive sound system; yet, the car itself would barely run!

Like this car, how far will style, alone, take our kids? Let’s teach our kids the value of a substantive life and being good stewards of their God-given resources. Believe it or not, this will be invaluable to their future employers, neighbors, customers, and families.

Who Your Teen Dates

Is it wise to allow our teens to be alone in a car with the opposite sex? Allowing a teen boy and girl in the same car together, alone, is a bad idea.

We live in a different world today – a world where even kids’ authority figures are accepting, expecting, and even promoting pre-marital sexual activity.

Pornography results in accentuated sexual appetites and attitudes. Kids are now having sex by appointment.

Do not allow your kids to be in a compromising situation.

Protecting our Daughters from the Objectifying of Women

The last cultural influence is the objectifying of women. Today, sex sells. How can you prevent your daughter from this influence?

There are two very simple things you can do as a father that will bond you closer to your daughter – regardless of her age.

First, tell your daughter she is lovely and be genuine.

Secondly, every girl wants to be rescued. When you see your daughter making questionable decisions, rescue her from herself.

At first; she may not seem appreciative, but in the long run you will win a fan for a lifetime.
