Psalm 147:7a (NLT)
Sing out your thanks to the Lord…

Learning to be thankful is not only a virtue; it is an important part of our life journey. God has given us so much to be appreciative of in life. Whether we realize it or not, gratitude shows the deepest sincerity, love, and spiritual awareness of our hearts and souls. Our faith is not a faith that has to lie dormant and remain stagnant. It is an active, vibrant, singing faith.

God delights in the singing and praise of His children. Just imagine how special you would feel if someone sang your praises for an act of kindness. Well, God feels the same way. In all His sovereignty and glory, He gets excited and feels special when we come before Him with joy and gratitude in our hearts. When we express ourselves in song, whether we can sing or not, we become aware of the fullness, goodness, and grace of God’s presence.

You don’t have to have extraordinary musical talent to sing to God. Singing is not only done with the mouth; more often than not, it is done with the heart. What is in our hearts will be expressed on our faces and show up in our attitude of service to God and for others. Allow yourself to embrace the emotional expression that comes from music, song, and dance. Let your heart rejoice.

Music and song have a positive effect on our brains and our hearts. When you need to be refreshed and revived, start singing, begin to think about all the blessings you have in your life to be thankful for. Let the music renew your soul and let gratitude to God spur you on to make a joyful noise and to embrace a joyful heart.

“When we lift our hands in praise and worship, we break spiritual jars of perfume over Jesus. The fragrance of our praise fills the whole earth and touches the heart of God.”
