Hebrews 13:5 (NLT)
God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
There are times in life when we may feel as though we are alone. Encountering a problem and having no one to talk with about it can be a lonely road. When we meet obstacles along our journey, it is easy to give up when you feel no one is there who understands the universal struggle. I think we all would agree that life’s pressures become a little less of a burden when we have someone by our side. This is why Jesus promised He would never fail us, never abandon us, always be by our side.
We may not always feel as though Jesus is near us, but we can’t rely wholly on feelings. Sometimes, we may feel as though Jesus is right there guiding us every step of the way. At other times, we may feel as though He just disappeared. It is at these times that we must remind ourselves that Jesus is testing our faith. Whether we can feel Him or not, or see Him or not, He is right there, by our side all the way.
Jesus wants us not only to believe on Him when we can visibly see His power at work, but when we can’t be so sure of anything at all. Jesus wants us to know that even when we can’t see Him, He is always present and is actively at work in our hearts and lives. Let your faith, not your feelings, guide your belief. Even though we cannot see Him or always feel His presence, we must believe His Word that He will never fail us, never abandon us, and will always be by our side.
“We shall steer safely through every storm, so long as our heart is right, our intention fervent, our courage steadfast, and our trust fixed on God.”
