Grow Together (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 18)

text size A A A

Ephesians 4:16 (NLT)
He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

God has wired us to grow, not in our own strength, but with the strength and help of others. There are many things in life we will never learn by ourselves. We learn and grow from other people and with other people.

Our relationship with others and attitude toward others is a reflection of our direct relationship with God. If we don’t trust God, there is no reason to believe we will fully trust others. If we don’t accept God’s grace and forgiveness, it is unlikely we will extend that same grace and forgiveness to others.

How we relate to God will be how we relate to others. God created the body of Christ to be in community, in fellowship with one another. You and I both need people God has placed in our lives to learn, to develop, to grow, to pray, and to seek God. We learn to live and love in community.

It is in the open space of others that we realize our potential, be real about our pain, and shed our shame of vulnerability. It is God’s nature to be in community. That is why He created all of us. It isn’t enough for one person to grow, everyone must grow together. Don’t hide from people. Run to them, embrace them and let them embrace you, and help each other become all God made you to be.

“The most important things you need to learn in life require that you be in relationship to other people.”
— Rick Warren
