One Way Street (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 36)

Exodus 3:11-12 (NLT)
But Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?” God answered, “I will be with you…”

You will recall that Moses had previously attempted to liberate the children of Israel from slavery in Egypt in his own strength. It did not work and God had to teach him an important lesson by putting him on the backside of the desert for 40 years. Here we see God giving Moses a second chance to do it the right way — God’s way not his way.

Moses learned how difficult it is to do God’s will in his own way. He also learned the trouble one will find himself in by being self-reliant instead of God-dependent. There is only one way to do God’s will in this life. It’s a one-way street — no shortcuts, no detours, and no dead-ends. It’s a one way shot to fulfilling God’s plan for your life. You can’t go your way; you must go God’s way.

When we choose to surrender to God and cooperate with His will, He will work in amazing ways in, through, and for our lives. For those who willingly yield to Him, He will perform great miracles and answer our prayers because we trust Him and embrace His truth and power. He can’t do anything with us until we become willing to be used.

Our past failures never prevent God from using us in His world. It is our humility and willingness to be used that He honors. Our weakness is the perfect opportunity for God’s glory to shine. In our own power, we are completely lost, unsuccessful, fruitless, and unproductive. There are no victories in our own strength. We experience our greatest victories when we choose to surrender to God’s will, God’s way, and God’s word.

“If we could learn the lessons Moses learned about the dangers of self-reliance and the advantages of depending on the Lord, we would save ourselves much hardship. ”
