Living Worthy of the Gospel of Jesus (40 Days of Easter Truth #1)

Easter Focus Passage: Philippians 1:27-30

27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel

28 without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God.

29 For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him,

30 since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have. FULL POST

6 Ways to Lighten Your Load

Life is difficult. It's even more difficult when you are weighed down by burdens too heavy for you to bear. You were not made to carry such heavy weights in your daily life. You were created to be free both inside and out, and you have the power to make choices that will allow you to experience wholeness and fulfillment in life. FULL POST

Don’t Miss that New Thing

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland" (Isaiah 43:18-19, NIV).

By all accounts, this past year of 2014 was not the best one that many people had hoped it would be. On the first day of January, last year, hope and change were desperately needed but the anticipation that either of these two ideas would manifest quickly evaporated as the year rolled on. The mood of society was depressing, and the attitude of much of the world was more despondent than expectant. FULL POST

Lessons I Learned in 2014

As we come to the close of another year, it is important that we travel back through this year, at least in our minds, and reflect on what we have learned. If we don't reflect on our past, we will not be able to properly move forward into the future. Self-reflection allows us to look seriously at our character, our thoughts, our motives, and our actions, and see where we may have made a wrong turn or didn't live up to our full potential. Self-reflection also keeps us humble and shows us that there is always room for improvement. FULL POST

The Possible Dream

It never ceases to amaze me how so many people give up on their dreams prematurely. When a little trouble or hardship comes into their lives, they forget about what they really want to do in life. They forget about who they really are and throw away talent and purpose. They allow their dreams to become so small in light of their present circumstance. Dreams often go unfulfilled because people let them die. But no dream is really ever wasted. Good dreams are meant to come to pass, and most all of them do, sometimes in the most unexpected and unlikely ways. FULL POST

Be Happy About Your Weaknesses

"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me" (2 Corinthians 12:9).

There are many times we may feel as though we can't do what God has called us to do. We may feel like we don't have enough talent, enough strength, or enough qualifications. But you know what, there is a lot of truth to these feelings. If God has called us to do something, there is no way possible we could do it without His help. In fact, if we could do God's work without Him, then it would cease to be His work and would become ours. FULL POST

The gift of Jesus Christ is certainly the greatest gift ever given to humankind, but it is not the only gift. Enjoy the Wait

"But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing" (James 1:4).

Patience is a fruit of the Spirit that God wants to develop in each of our lives. It can be hard to develop patience especially when we live in a time where fast is the order of the day. However, if we want to honor God and enjoy life to the full, we must learn to embrace the beautiful gift of patience. FULL POST
