Peace that Overcomes (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 21)

Philippians 4:7 (NLT)
Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Could you use some real peace in your life? We all can. From hectic schedules, chaotic homes, and frenetic workspaces, peace seems like a pin on our radar screen. But it doesn’t have to be. It can be foremost in our lives and can define how we work, relate, and rest.

Regardless of the storms around you, the troubles about you, the chaos in front of you, and the negative feelings within you, Jesus offers peace that overcomes any and every situation. It’s not the pseudo, sitting on an island, yoga posture, soft and slow music kind of peace. This peace only comes when everything is going just right. The peace that Jesus gives is for all times — when everything is good and when everything is totally wrong.

Peace that overcomes is present when the bills are high and the money is low. This peace pushes through when you lose your job in the middle of a failing economy. This peace is evident on your face and in your spirit when you choose not to respond to an angry co-worker or boss. When trouble comes knocking, Jesus’ peace allows us to answer instead of cower in fear.

Jesus had a different kind of peace and He offers it to us. This peace goes beyond calm in the middle of chaos. It helps you bring forth your best, creative self. When you fail, it causes you to get back up, shake off the dirt, and move forward. His peace allows you to dream, to be courageous, to embrace wisdom, and to be aware of opportunities that are just for you.

No matter what is going on around you or within you, Jesus’ peace can cause you to overcome and to fulfill His plan and purpose for you. You can have peace that passes all understanding, that is unspeakable, and incomprehensible. The world does not determine your peace because Jesus is peace.

“If God be our God, He will give us peace in trouble. When there is a storm without, He will make peace within. The world can create trouble in peace, but God can create peace in trouble.”
