The Highest Honor (365 Days of Daring Faith – DAY 26)

text size A A A

James 4:10 (NLT)
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

Humility is tranquility of spirit, quietness of heart, the deepest honor, and an attainable goal. It is a place of total dependence on and trust in God. We honor God with an attitude of meekness and an understanding that everything we could want or need must come from Him. Humility is an honor for those who embrace it and seek after it because it is where God pulls out His choicest servants.

We have nothing of our own will or strength. Without God and His mercy and grace, we would be lost, confused, and dead in every way imaginable. Humility does not rob us of inner strength; it is strength to live wisely, patiently, and graciously. Humility is a necessary condition for forgiveness, love, and faith. It precedes every other virtue.

If we embrace a spirit of humility and draw close to God at all times will find God in deep communion and fellowship with us. There can be no trust if there is no deep communion. If there is not such a relationship, it is only our fault, not God’s. Humbling our souls and hearts under God will lead to abundant blessings and advantageous favor in our lives. He will deliver us from trouble, strength us when we are weak, lift us up to honor, and raise our spirits to peace and victory. The highest honor in heaven and in earth is to be found with a humble spirit and life.

“Here is the path to the higher life: down, lower down! Just as water always seeks and fills the lowest place, so the moment God finds men abased and empty, His glory and power flow in to exalt and to bless.”
