Over the course of the week, the video game industry has been hit with some major news. Some games have delved further into the big screen realm, while virtual reality has continued to make a major impact on gaming. Take Fruit Ninja for example. Although the game doesn’t necessarily seem like a video game, which could easily be converted into a movie, it is going to happen anyway. The game itself features a collection of ninjas, who chop up a variety of fruit with different swords and blades. New Line has secured the rights to the movie, which is expected to be released sometime in the next few years.

The script, which was written by Chad Damiani and JP Lavin, is already completed. Their pair worked closely with Sony Animation for the How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack feature film. Over the course of the year, video game movies have done fairly well. Sony’s Angry Birds Movie was remarkable and managed to bring in nearly 350 million dollars, since it was first released on May the 20th. Fruit Ninja has become one of the most popular games for mobile devices. With its popularity and the writing skills of JP Lavin and Chad Damiani, the movie should be something for gamers to look forward to. Also, this week delivered a very surprising video game hit, Virginia.

The game was released on September the 22nd and it has already gained good praise from critics and gamers alike. The game, which is available on Windows, OS X, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, was developed by Variable State and published by 505 Games. The game puts the player in the shoes of Anne Tarver, who happens to be a graduate FBI agent. She is thrown into the line of fire and forced to tackle her first case, which just happens to be a missing boy from Virginia. As the story begins to drag on, players will discover that nothing is as it appears. They’ll be taken on a wild ride from the onset, until everything culminates in a dramatic manner. The game has been praised substantially from the likes of Royal1688.

NHL 17 is a video game that many hockey fans have been anxiously awaiting. According to rumors, the tutorial is very unique and easy to follow. If you hope to become a proficient virtual hockey player, you are going to be forced to do a lot of practicing. Maneuvering along the ice can be challenging, especially for those gamers that have never endeavored the task before. The first hockey video game that many people remember is “Ice Hockey”, which was available only on the NES. Gamers all throughout the U.S. spent hours to master the skill of ice hockey, while many did others failed miserably.

Meanwhile, a video game developer has decided to sue its online critics. The Digital Homicide Studios, which is based out of Arizona, filed a federal lawsuit to finally put an end to online harassment that has expanded over one and a half years. James Romine, who founded the developing studio with his brother, intends to sue anywhere from 11 to 100 Steam users for approximately 18 million dollars. Once news of the lawsuit went public, Valve stripped Digital Homicide games from their Steam online marketplace. Will it be worth it in the end?
