Come to me

text size A A A

Scripture: "Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your selves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light." Matthew 11:28-30

Prayer: Let me apply these words literally in my life and become ever more conscious of opportunities to take up this yoke, and perhaps even delighting—yes delighting—in the Lord's invitation.

Response: This yoke is discovered when you ache from a fall, see goals and tasks before you that you can't imagine achieving or completing on time, listen to those who are desperately lonely with all the time necessary even though once – or twice you were frugal with what you might considered precious time, forgive someone deeply for a wrong endured and of course beg forgiveness from one in return, endure a personal calamity of loss, illness, or just age with a quiet spirit.

Now how does one do that? The answer is also found in these verses I am meek and humble of heart and you will find rest for yourselves. What's more you will discover that the yoke is not nearly as heavy and restrictive as you had anticipated.

The next time you feel debilitated as you trudge along the path, call to mind these verses. They are guaranteed to provide you the peace you seek. And this guarantee has no expiration time, but it might be good to test the promise while you still remember the verses.
